How poorly was your baby after 8 week immunisations?

Just that, really, and any tips for coping!

We have got in infant calpol as DD will be old enough for it by then, but is there anything else that might help? And how bad was it?

DS was absolutely fine. No different. He didn't like having them but the crying only lasted a minute or so. After a cuddle and a feed he was fine. I hated it but that is my issue not hisGrin

Minithemoocher · 18/03/2015 22:24

Fine here after cuddle and feed too.

meglet · 18/03/2015 22:24

no difference for either of them.

Had a bit of a temp but find apart from that. Can have calpol my GP actually prescribed some for DD at the appointment for her 8 week check/jabs.

GingerCuddleMonster · 18/03/2015 22:26

nothing the weirdo that is DS didn't even cry till she pulled the needle out Hmm. Quick cuddle and feed in the reception and within 5mins he was happy, no post vaccination fever and slept like a log that night hes yet to repeat this amazing feat of sleep

RevoltingPeasant · 18/03/2015 22:32

Interesting! I just read an old thread on this from 2006 and loads of people reported dire effects, like crying lasting 2 weeks and babies seeming blank and unresponsive. Was quite worrying stuff!

No ill effects from any of his sets of injections, and he didn't even have a long, calpol induced sleep I was very disappointed!

Hope all goes well

GlitterTwinkleToes · 18/03/2015 22:49

Only side effect dd had was some v.dirty nappies and slept through the night bloody miracle

ch1134 · 18/03/2015 23:06

Stomach cramps from the polio drops.

TreadSoftlyOnMyDreams · 18/03/2015 23:08

Had a 4hr hiatus after the jabs and then she screamed her head off for about two hrs every time she moved a leg. Temp for a few hours which calpol/paracetamol took the edge off.

Dd2 was fine. Slight temp but she had her jabs at ten weeks so a bit more flesh on the legs by then.

Latium123 · 18/03/2015 23:18

No problems here either. She cried at the time which wasn't the best experience for me but after a cuddle she was fine again. No fever or illness, just a small local reaction on the leg where it went a bit red.

Good luck.

lemonpoppyseed · 19/03/2015 00:01

DD didn't even cry when she got the needle, and was fine afterwards. DS used to sleep like a log after his so I (stupidly) thought the same would happen with her. Not a chance, unfortunately.

StetsonsAreCool · 19/03/2015 00:05

The drops aren't polio, that's the rotavirus vax.

No I'll effects here either. Didn't even have to open the calpol I'd bought specially for him (precious 2nd born doesn't share his sister's medicine!)

DD was a bit grumpy and had a bit of a temp after hers (2010), but fine by bedtime.

The most traumatic bit is the stabby bit, in my experience.

ch1134 · 19/03/2015 07:30

Oh yes, rotavirus. Wewere told the drops might lead ro stomach cramps and they did.

splendide · 19/03/2015 07:54

Fine here!

squizita · 19/03/2015 08:21

Slight warm temp and green poo for 48hr (ie normal amount but green). Quite grumpy! Smile

The rotavirus one they seem to hate more than the jabs ironically!

Holepunch · 19/03/2015 08:35

Not poorly at all

OhMjh · 19/03/2015 10:05

8 week jabs was the point DD started sleeping through the night! She cried very briefly during the jabs, mainly because the nurse hit a bloody vein Hmm and loved the liquid vaccination so much that she sucked it out the syringe!

Mimsey · 19/03/2015 12:35

My baby was fine after the 8 week (and all those that followed) she cried a bit but didn't develop any side effects or temperature. I did notice however she wanted to be cuddled and didn't want to be left alone after. Also she spent more time comfort suckling. Next morning she was back to normal.

squizita · 19/03/2015 13:59

I went to a well woman clinic yesterday in the same building we go to for jabs.
I swear DD (6 months) recognised it and gave me a "don't even think about it" face. Grin

LifeIsBetterInFlipFlops · 19/03/2015 14:03

Totally fine.

MagicDucky · 19/03/2015 19:16

My DD didn't cry at all! Just looked a bit p*ed off at being woken up. She had a really gross nappy, but that was it! I wouldn't worry too much!

LaceyLee · 19/03/2015 19:21

My dd was fine, she even liked the taste of the rotavirus drops and swallowed them with a smile! Felt bad that she was all smiley and then got jabbed but after a feed and cuddle was fine.

PuppyMummy · 19/03/2015 19:45

mine was fine also. Didnt need calpol.

trilbydoll · 19/03/2015 19:47

DD cried for a couple of hours in the afternoon then fell into the deepest sleep ever for about 4 hours - I was about to call 111 when she finally woke up. She's never slept as soundly before or since that day!
