How poorly was your baby after 8 week immunisations?

Just that, really, and any tips for coping!

We have got in infant calpol as DD will be old enough for it by then, but is there anything else that might help? And how bad was it?

Ds had his a couple of weeks ago, he wasn't impressed with the injection and screamed but was fine after a cuddle. He slept amazingly all day but didn't have any ill effects

trilbydoll · 19/03/2015 19:49

And I didn't have any Calpol - for the 12w and 16w ones I gave Calpol straight away and she was absolutely fine, no difference to normal.

I read that thread too and rushed out and bought a thermometer and calpol. Needed neither, as others have said, after a quick feed and a hug the baby was fine. The green nappy was a sight to behold!!!!
The twelve week injections were even less of an event than the eight week ones.

No problem here.
I cried more than she did when she looked up at me as of to say, what have you done!

I used calpol which was prescribed when her temp rose but then swiftly realised i was using the thermometer wrong and didn't need to give it after all... Oooops!

Note. Ive seen on previous threads people suggesting giving calpol in advance of the injections to ease the blow but nhs guidance strongly disagrees as it can affect the immunisation process. Just thought I'd mention in case anyone was thinking of it.

Not a bit ill, maybe a tiny bit sweaty.

After reading threads on here I was prepared for world war three....nothing happened.

Not at all.

Shocked when the needles went in and then decked out for a really big sleep mummy had a loooong lunch with be papers and a glass of wine

Also had calpol but didn't need it.

Thanks all :)

Poor DD cried very hard when the needles wentin and sobbed in a gaspy sort of way afterwards ?? she drank the rotavirus one but in quite a grumpy resigned manner. I bfed her in the waiting room afterwards and a middle aged man glared at me. I was just daring him to say something!

The nurse had to use special small needles as DD is so tiny (2nd centile).

But so far no big after effects. She slept through the night last night for the first time anyhow. Let's see if she gets tetchier tonight!

Hi
My DS had his jabs yesterday and seemed ok for 3-4 hours afterwards, maybe a bit glum and sleepy. Gave him calpol. Then he became really cranky and cried for over 2 hours and wanted to be fed lots. He went down after a bath and another feed and slept for nearly 5 hours but has since been waking and crying every hour or so. He is really not himself and seems mighty unhappy. No temperature although his skin is hot to touch. Looks a bit like heat rash round his neck. I gave him more calpol in the night and I'm wondering if I should give him another dose today. He's just gone down to sleep but I can already hear him groaning so he will probably wake soon.

I have been in tears a couple of times, I feel so sorry for him. He's usually a very happy contented baby. Sad

Anyone else had a very unhappy baby afterwards? How long did it last?

His 12 week jabs are booked for the same day that we have friends coming to stay with us for the weekend. I may have to ask to postpone it as don't want him being like this while we have visitors. Dreading the next lot!!

MrsBojingles · 21/03/2015 18:40

She was fine, poos were quite explosive for a week though

My DS had his first injections on Monday, he slept through them. Afterwards was a different story, he screamed constantly from 4 pm to 12am then just lay in his basket moaning and writhing in pain, he didn't want held or touched, it broke my heart to see my baby so upset. Today he has been better, although he has been asleep all day!
Dreading the next set in 4 weeksSad

But was wondering how your lil one did with stomach cramps
My baby has had first set of jabs today an was crying inconsolably for about 2 hr with stomach cramps, 8
I could hear her stomach an would pass wind an cry more.

Lake2 · 01/12/2016 11:34

My first, very poorly. Ended up being kept in hospital with a fever that wouldn't come down for 2 days.

My second, not poorly at all, not even a fever

Princessdelrey · 04/12/2016 20:57

Didn't phase him. His 12 week however! He had them on Friday and it's been a rough weekend! Runny poo every few hours, clingy, tearful, tired, not hungry. Been hell!
