Hi-I really need some advise!
recently bought size 2 fluffles (nippas) to use for my dd who's just over 12lbs now, but have found them to be very bulky (her legs are WIDE apart ) she is quite long and thin though! When I was researching I read that they were quite bulky but thought as she was thin it'd be less obvious but it seems to be the opposite!
Do you think I just need to wait a while and persevere with these or should I try the bamboozles as they are less bulky? Or something else completely?
I'm getting so confused now and starting the get the 'I told you so's' from people who think I?m crazy for wanting to use re-usable! I really want to prove them wrong!

Not stalking you, honest... Wambamboos.. much slimmer, very absorbant. Available from geobel.com (or me if I ever get my arse in gear!).

sammysam · 24/10/2006 12:05

Thanks!
Are they really good as a birth to potty? And do they take a stupidly long time to dry?
I'm feeling really impatient and want to order asap and can't be doing with ordering one of each . . . . . that could be my problem!!!

They do take stupidly long to dry (although now its colder they dry a lot quicker on a radiator), but they are a fab btp option.

I am disturbingly passionate about them, but I have encourage quite a few converts on mn.

How long are we talking? Do you have to have a lot more nappies cos they take longer? How many would you suggest? Sorry-so many questions!

Can you tell me why they are so good-especially compared to other ones?!

It's all so confusing!

i use onelife ones and also have some motherease ones...my lo also long and slim. The motherease are less bulky than the one life and both are much less bulky than a totsbots i was given. Both fine at night with a booster. I also find the onelife nappy covers with poppers to be less bulky than velcro fastening motherease/cotton bottoms covers that i have.

Not sure how the fluffles compares to the totsbots though in terms of bulkiness im afraid.

I dont have a t/drier and both OL and ME dry relatively quickly on a radiator or on the line

mrsbumble123 · 24/10/2006 14:13

I've tried most kinds - personally I prefer the Bamboozles on my daughter - not too bulky and beautifully soft. R

eally you should consider fabric - microfibre ones dry fastest, cost and fit. I also liked the nature babies microdiddies which are much slimmer than the fluffles.

Detailed advice on the questions you have asked is available on www.thenappylady.com and www.purenappiness.com (we liked the prices on this site)

eefs · 24/10/2006 14:21

hapopy heinys are brilliant and quite good looking. I like fuzzybunz too. Btoh types are easy to clean and not bulky.

Pollybloodyanna · 24/10/2006 14:29

i think Fuzzi Bunz are the best. i also like Bamboozles.

Flamebat · 24/10/2006 15:47

I love the wbbs for slimness and also for the length of the tabs - they do a chunky toddler just as well as a little newborn. They are very very absrobant too.

They take about 6 hrs on the line on a windy day, not sure about how long on the radiator, I tend to have em on overnight... will time it next time.

About 15 gets us by - I wash every other day, so we always have enough for 2 days in the wash/dry, and one being worn iyswim.

I have got a couple of magicalls too which dry really fast so they are my emergency ones if I have gotten behind with the washing.

LRWG · 24/10/2006 16:02

My DD (5.5 months) is also long and slim. I hated HUGE nappies on her but am now one of Flamebat's converts and have been using Wambamboos for the past week or so and must say that they really are fab!

I have 12 and wash every other day, stick them in the tumble drier for half an hour - to help fluffiness - and then on a radiator overnight.

Ignore the "I told you so's" from people, no matter what you decide to do - at least you were willing to give it a go!

littlepiggie · 24/10/2006 21:44

I love wbb, they are so slim and soft.
I use one life nappies at home- dont take long to dry.
wbb when out- very slim, still slim with front folded down, but take twice as long to dry.
Fluffles- at night with a wbb, one life os micr fiber cloth as a booster, v quick drying.
Bamboozle- again at night although dont need to boost, take about the same time to dry as wbb.
Ellas house hemp- very absorbant, take a long time to dry. good night time nappy, long car journeys or so i dont need to worry if i walk to town or somthing.

littlepiggie · 24/10/2006 21:45

sorry if that is hard to read, talking to dh at the same.

sammysam · 25/10/2006 14:48

I'm now thinking I should try a few different ones to find the best fit.
A wambamboo and bamboozle and i want to try some that'll dry quicker-any ideas? as long as they aren't bulky on my skinny monkey!

good old fashioned terrys! cheap and quick drying! my dd is a skinny little rabbit and folding them isn't nearly as scary as it sounds...!

oh god sorry - hate it when that happens!

Flamebat · 25/10/2006 22:25

lol - good to see you are passionate about them ESM

Kissaluvs are quite slim, but again they take a while to dry.

Magicalls are incredible for slimness and drying, but they don't hold as much, and where they are sized aios they can get pricey.

Rainbow tots are the slimmest out of the tots options - you get the great shape etc, but out of normal terry instead so it dries faster.

sammysam · 26/10/2006 15:24

Flamebat-can you use the rainbowtots size 2 as btp?

ESM-which fold to you find the most reliable and do you know of a website that shows how to do the different folds?

OP posts:
tortoiseshell · 26/10/2006 15:30

I'm using a mixture - rainbow tots in daytime (ds2 is in size 2, and he is about 14.5 pounds), bamboozles at night (I just LOVE them - they are SO gorgeous), or a totsbots unbleached nappy which is more absorbent than the rainbow ones, but therefore significantly bulkier.

Firebird · 26/10/2006 15:37

You can, but they are bulky... somoene was giving away disana tie on ones today - look on swap shop and see if they are still available??

evilstepmom · 26/10/2006 20:43

sammysam - i got my folds from plushpants.com- can't remember names of my "favourite" folds but will check and post again....!

CornflakeKid · 29/10/2006 18:02

I use onelife too - easy and pretty slim fitting - also like fuzzis but work out expensive for full birth to potty set. I personally wouldn't recommend disana as although they say they are birth to potty they do need a prefold or substantial booster inside them as they are not very abosrbent - also don't like the fiddly ties. Onelife are slimmer than the tots and have much more stretch than the motherease - slightly more expensive I think but come with the booster. I would recommend a Lollipop advisor to get a good look at the nappies and touch/feel them rather than just loking online - they should also be able to tell you about terry folds.

Good luck - cloth nappies are very addictive when you get into them!

evilstepmom · 29/10/2006 18:50

sammysam - the plushpants fold i use and recommend are the t-fold and a triangley one known as gaynors fold. i have a dd but you can get ones specially for girls/boys.
really not as much faff as it sounds!

Dragonhart · 29/10/2006 20:06

Another of Flames converts here!!

Wambamboos are sooo slim, as slim as disp. but as absorbant. Do take ages to dry though.

I also have some terrys and they are really useful as an inbetween nappy when they wont be in it long. Not hard to fold either when you have done a couple.

Now a quick question about drying WBBs Flame (sorry to crash sammy). I thought that you couldnt dry bamboo nappies on the radiator as it had the same effect as drying them in a hot tumble dryer and they went all wooly? It is taking 2 days to dry mine on airers by the radiator. Am I being stupid or will dring them directly on the hot rad mean that I cant nippa them?
