How much is your child's school breakfast club?

Off the back of my other thread, it's been suggested my children's breakfast club is very expensive, so I'm hoping people will do a quick poll of their breakfast club costs.

I have two children and the breakfast club is Ofsted reg'd and run from their school premises, at £2 per child, or £18 a week if paid in advance.

It runs from 7.45 to 8.40

I'm in Northamptonshire, ordinary market town.

8 to 8.50, £3 per child except Y6 are free. London.

I'm most grateful for it as last year it was only from 8.30 for same price, or earlier only for a few kids and long waiting list. Though only actually used it twice.

lostscot · 29/01/2015 21:20

I run one at our school, run by staff and we charge £4. Children can arrive from 730am and then we see them to class at 8.45. Breakfast is toast, cereal, fruit and juice or milk. End of term is always a excuse for a fry up :-)

ghostspirit · 29/01/2015 21:22

ours opens 7.45-8.30 and its free

Ours isn't cssiw registered (Welsh Ofstead) but ASC is so that parents can claim childcare vouchers for it.

Medoc · 29/01/2015 21:25

Fairy- they wish! It's just bog-standard toast/cereal as far as I can see.

The weird, weird thing is that to drop your child, but no breakfast, is free, FREE! Same times, no food Confused

Perhaps the eaters just subsidise the rest?

RhinestoneCowgirl · 29/01/2015 21:26

Open from 7:30, costs 1.50 but you pay extra for food. Porridge is 30p, DDs favorite.

Cockbollocks · 29/01/2015 21:28

Ours is £5.50 8am-8.45. When I enquired the owner kindly let me know that breakfast wasn't obligatory if we wanted to come a bit later.

For £5.50 DS was there at opening time having fasted for 14 hours

TheNumberfaker · 29/01/2015 21:29

Wow! Ours is £5 per child 8.00-8.55 with toast. On school premises. Didn't realise it was so expensive compared to others!

jimmycrackcornbutidontcare · 29/01/2015 21:29

Sounds very reasonable to me. You couldn't leave a child with a childminders at 7.45 to 8.45 for £2. It sounds excellent value. I wish my child's school had a breakfast club.

ShouldiWork · 29/01/2015 21:30

£5 from 7.30am

longestlurkerever · 29/01/2015 21:31

5 quid here too.

ShouldiWork · 29/01/2015 21:38

In fact I have 2 DC in separate primaries. One pays £1.50 from 8am & the other £5 from 7.30am.

Tbh - 'value' wise they compare. The cheap one is a couple of bleary eyed TAs sitting in front of a bank of value cereal. DS dislikes it because he says it is boring - except for when kids get so bored they become rowdy Hmm.

The pricey one rents the school hall, but hire their own staff. Good is better, and they make a reasonable effort at making it a nice environment (drag out some cosy cushions, pull out toys, help kids with organising their stuff).

Most of all - the private one let you book whenever (ie night before seems fine) - and take bank transfer to pay.

The cheap one act as though they are doing you a favour - get arsey if you need to change plans with less than a week notice - and expect DC to pay cash on arrival - which causes lots of aggro and muddles.

ShouldiWork · 29/01/2015 21:39

food is better!

longestlurkerever · 29/01/2015 21:45

Ps after school is something like £13.75 from 3:15 to 5:45 but includes tea.

MadameJulienBaptiste · 29/01/2015 22:11

There is one at school 8 am till school starts, £1.50 a day. No aftershool club at school.
A private company offers a 7.30 till school breakfast club run at a larger nearby school which then buses the kids to various schools, costs £4 per morning.
They also run an after school club which picks up children from various schools till 6, for £8 a day. They have to pay rent to the host school, and run 2 minibuses.
plus they take childcare vouchers.
perhaps the wild differences in prices on this thread are because some clubs are run by schools for their pupils, and some are private companies paying for rent and vehicles.

soontobemumofthree · 29/01/2015 22:14

8am to 8:45am £1.50 per child. I think it's cheap!

AndreaZuckerman · 29/01/2015 22:14

50p per child and run by school staff.

MyOneandYoni · 29/01/2015 22:20

Oh no. I think I win.
£6 per child.
I have three there.

KissMyFatArse · 29/01/2015 22:21

Opened at 8-15 have cereal and toast and drink and all for 35p!

Scotland.

MyOneandYoni · 29/01/2015 22:21

I leave them at the door yelling, "Make sure you have cereal AND toast"...

Cockadoodledooo · 29/01/2015 22:23

We don't have one. So many people seemed to be interested/need to have it to facilitate getting to work on time etc, but when it was proposed only about 3 families signed up so it's a no go. Proposal was £2 for 7.45- 8.45, including cereal/toast etc. Seemed good value to me

tumbletumble · 29/01/2015 22:25

£3.50

nightswift · 29/01/2015 22:25

We don't have a breakfast club Sad

IsabellaofFrance · 29/01/2015 22:27

£3.75 per child from 7.45 to 8.55.

longestlurkerever · 29/01/2015 22:34

Madame nope, my five quid one is run by the school. They had to take it over from the council due to cuts. Tbh I am just glad there is one, and it and the after school club will take dd even though she is still at pre school.
