My little one is 3 now but has been sat on a normal dining room chair for quite a while now- he tends to just kneel up so he can reach and seem to prefer this to sitting on a booster or cushion

MrsPear · 17/01/2015 09:52

Still in the same high chair as yourself. Occasionally i let him sit on his little chair and the largest of my nest of tables in the sitting room. He likes to try and sit on a normal chair but is not tall enough so high chair without tray at the family table for time being.

Kneeling on a normal dining room chair.

Booster seat on a normal highchair. She's too short to reach the table just on the normal chair. Plus booster seats have straps, which is helpful if you know they're ever going to be at the table without you.

RiojaHaze · 17/01/2015 10:09

Mine kneels on a dining room chair. He's been doing it for ages as having older siblings he wanted to do the same as them so just sat on a cushion for a while.

HappyAsASandboy · 17/01/2015 10:12

We switched from the antilop to ikea junior chairs somewhere between two and three years. They still use the junior chairs now at four years old, and will do for another year I would guess.

BabsUnited · 17/01/2015 10:13

My 2.6 year old is in his Tripp trapp without baby insert bit, it's the right height and will last him for years yet and goes with our mix of chair styles and colours

dementedpixie · 17/01/2015 10:14

Both mine were on a booster seat attached to a dining chair by that age

stargirl1701 · 17/01/2015 10:16

Stokke Tripp Trapp.

yellowsnownoteatwillyou · 17/01/2015 10:21

In a Chico booster chair. It folds up as well to take with you to restaurants. Great buy.

loudarts · 17/01/2015 10:22

Kiddicare high chair, she would like to sit up the table but we dont have enough seats.

SweetsForMySweet · 17/01/2015 10:22

We have small nursery size chairs so I put it at the coffee table. When dh is home we put a cushion on one of the 'big' chairs at your table so we all eat there together.

DandyMott · 17/01/2015 10:24

A booster that attaches to a normal dining room chair. She calls it her big girl chair!

feesh · 17/01/2015 10:25

Twins are still in Antilops and I intend to contain them in them until they are 11 for as long as possible to contain the epic mess. There is a rug under our table which is why they're not allowed to eat at the table yet, I can't handle all the cleaning!

Ineedacleaningfairy · 17/01/2015 10:28

My 2 year old sits on a Tripp trapp chair, we took off the baby bit at around 18 months.

Artandco · 17/01/2015 10:31

Tripp trapp- they sat without the bar/strap since around 18 months.

GingerDoodle · 17/01/2015 10:31

When we eat at the dining table she sits on a normal seat. When we eat out she normally asks for a high chair and when we eat in the living room (more often than not at the moment she has a small table and chair.

Ikea todder chair at the table with us, which he loves - it's like a high stool but with a small backrest and splayed legs so less likely to topple over. I would go for Stokke Tripp Trapp if you have a bigger budget (easier for them to climb in and out of when a bit older, although ds can now get in the ikea one on his own) or plastic booster seat if you want to spend less (is just as good - we have one for going away - but less easy on the eye!).

HeyMicky · 17/01/2015 14:02

DD (2.3) has an Ikea junior chair at the dining table. Still a high chair when we go out

Paddingtonthebear · 17/01/2015 14:07

At the table, with one of these on a dining chair

We have a Tripp Trapp for my just 2 year old having used an Antilop until about 1. She has a booster seat at my SIL's which I am also a big fan of.

MotherOfInsomniacToddlers · 17/01/2015 14:10

Just a normal dining chair, he wants to be like the older kids though and has been sitting in a normal chair for a while. He likes his food and eats well. His 3yo sister on the other hand could do with a bib and a high chair!!(I don't though!) Grin

Thumbwitch · 17/01/2015 14:13

Still in a high chair. He's 27mo now though and starting to want to sit on a chair, but I'm not ready for him to do that just yet, as he's not allowed in the kitchen unrestrained, he's a real button pusher and we have a gas oven. Obviously he wouldn't be left on a chair on his own, but I can leave him in the high chair, and he often dozes off during his lunch, which is great for letting me get things done (he's in Super Klingon mode when he's awake at the moment).

BMO · 17/01/2015 14:15

Tripp trapp style one (exactly the same but cost £40!). 4.5 year old has just given it up for the 10 month old, who is strapped in but no bar.
