hi all
I have a beautiful 6 month old boy, who I love to bits. gvae up work to have him adn never intended to go back until he was older - say nusery age. but I'm sooo bored! every day seems like groundhog day - same thing over adn over. we go to coffee mornings every fortnight which are a real lifesaver - i see some of the people from that at differnt times, but teh days stil seem very long. what with feeding adn mushing up fruit and veg al the time, my days seem to be spent in teh kitchen. we do go out shopping etc, but hate spending money now I'm not earning it, adn indow shopping is a waste of time. not one for sitting in coffee shops, adn everything is alwasy timed to get back home for feeds etc. i just don't know what to do with myself(hey isn't that a song?) and som days liek today when DH has gone back to work I just spend my whole day clockwatching wondering how to fill teh time. there's only so many verses of singing wheels on the bus a girl can sing, adn only so much housework i have the inclincation to do - (actaully none at all) can anyone please reassure me that I'm not going mad?!!!

What did you like to do before you had your ds?

melsy · 19/04/2004 09:45

Are you ok Littleweed. Sorry we seem to have hijacked your thread. But I think these are the chats that help my day along a bit. LIke banter at your virtual office desk!!

Except then I feel guilty that im not cleaning or being a stepford wife!!! Do you know there doing a remake of that!!

wobblyknicks · 19/04/2004 09:46

melsy - I've got to walk for a few years before I hope to get my svelte tummy back but it all helps!!!

LipstickMum · 19/04/2004 09:46

LipstickMum · 19/04/2004 09:50

papillon · 19/04/2004 09:50

I hätte garn eine virtual Deutsch klassen beginnen

toll

wobblyknicks · 19/04/2004 09:51

Das war sehr schnell!!! Wo ist das?

coppertop · 19/04/2004 09:55

Sorry, Littleweed. Yes, I know what you mean. It's not so much a case of having nothing to do but more a case of having nothing interesting to do. I've got a neverending stream of housework and paperwork to do (and really shouldn't be on Mumsnet) but it's so boring. Do you have any particular interests you could get involved in? Maybe something you could do from home?

papillon · 19/04/2004 09:55

Ich wohne auf die Schweiz
und ach ich mache sehr schnell das Maschinenschreiber

melsy · 19/04/2004 09:58

Do you like : cooking , painting, sewing, drawing, reading, astrology, yoga ?? I know its hard , as the lonliness makes you just want to curl up on the sofa and not do anything.

LipstickMum · 19/04/2004 10:03

You're right Melsy, it can be like an inward spiral. Sitting on the sofa watching The Wright Stuff really makes the morning go quickly. I have also been experiencing some post-baby blues and that makes it even harder to get out there. Perhaps now your son is 6 months you could get out to some classes or groups a couple times a week. Some of the mums there are probably just like you!

melsy · 19/04/2004 10:20

Littleweed heres my thread from a few weeks ago. I havent re read it so I hope theres nothig untoward on it!! Monday blues!! .

gold123 · 19/04/2004 10:22

Tumble tots is good for 6 months + and I also took my ds to Jo Jingles (don't know wether they have them in your area?), see if there are anymore parent & toddler groups in your area, they are a real lifesaver, finding people to talk to, who probably feel exactly the same as you do. I know it doesn't help, but these times with your little one are so precious - my ds is starting school today, (12.30pm) and I am beside myself, he's so small - his age 3 trousers are a bit to big on him aaahhh ! Where do you live ?

melsy · 19/04/2004 10:23

MISERY GUTS WARNING littleweed . I was having a reeelly bad time then. I hope to you dont get more down reading it!! Now the sun is shining I feel a whole lot better!!

Codswallop · 19/04/2004 10:23

you need to get out to wimming and groups!
enjoy the freedon you have to do whatever - go sight seeing go shopping go o a trsin whatever!

T will all change soon!

littleweed · 19/04/2004 10:24

blimey - you leave teh computer for 5 minutes and come back adn look - a whole new langauge has appeared!! You'll be impressed to know that whilst Lo has gone for a nap i washed teh kitchen floor!! whoopydoo!! now on 1 hand I feel v virtuouus cos it was a health hazard, adn on teh other I feel v sad becasue i'm so pleased I've done it!!!!!! guess I am partly to blame - my intersets are all quite solitay ones - reading, cooking, walking etc. i find with Lo that anything that demands concentration is a real no go as he needs one eye on him all teh time if not 2. we go out walking to coincide with nap times (2 birds/1 stone etc) guess i just miss my old life adn having conversations that didn't revovle around nappies and poo (does Eastenders count as adult conversation?!). feel like I'm a in a pit of blackness adn can't quite summon up teh energy or enthusaism today to climb out. should ahve felt like that yesterday when it was p*ing it doen adn really foul rather tham today which is lovely adn sunny. hvae also realised that can't spell 'the' or 'and' corectly which is also slighlty depressing - especially for a primary teacher!!!!
