I mentioned on the Bratz thread that I bin Bratz pressies - some people expressed shock that I would do that.

Have now thought about it - I've also binned some other stuff actually, a make-up set and felt-tips (lids are always left off, and she draws on clothes with them). (dd1 does not look after her stuff at all so this has gone mostly unnoticed)
I would also merrily toss out tarty clothing.

She still gets lots of tat that I don't throw out though. It's just the tarty stuff that isn't allowed to stay.

Surely I'm not alone with this?

I wouldn't throw things away as it seems like a complete waste. If I really didn't like something (hasn't happened yet) I'd give it to a charity shop or bring and buy sale. We've recycled several things which she's had several of but only in cases where the items wouldn't be noticed by the person who gave it to her.

TBH we've been quite lucky as all DD seems to get are nice, tasteful gifts. The odd bit of makeup doesn't bother me in the slightest - I don't mind her wearing it to parties or when dressing up.

I've given make-up before - don't three year olds love that sort of thing? Mine loves plastering herself and friends in glitter. It's not like they remotely resemble Jon Benet Ramsay - they end up looking like a selection pack of My Little Ponies.

I think I just like giving naughty presents. This would explain why my usual Wedding Day gift is a large dildo for the bride ...
