Reasons my child has cried today

She wanted jam on her toast - but not the jam that was ON her toast. No. The jam in the jar

She wanted to drive her car. She was sitting on it. But she didn't want to move her feet.

Her legs aren't long enough to hang over the edge of then sofa

She wanted to watch peppa pig. But on the iPad not the tv. Then it was the wrong episode.

She wanted my lunch. As we were eating the same thing I have her my lunch. She then cried cos she wanted my lunch. And could no comprehend that I now had her lunch....

I wouldn't take her to France

She wanted to but strawberries in tesco. But none of the punnets I selected would do.

She wanted to buy flowers for daddy. We bought them. She gave them to him. She then wanted to pick them all apart and we wouldn't let her.

She didn't want to go in the buggy but also didn't want to walk.

She's 2. Granted she isn't feeling 100%. The above is a selection of reasons she has cried today. She has cried at more stuff aswell but these were the highlights.
I am shattered Sad

Oh Slightly, now THAT is a reason to cry! Poor you.
Mine are:

  • I took away the cup that she was using to throw water at me
  • I put her in bed and she wanted to climb up herself
  • I ate the porridge that she expressly said she had finished
  • She wanted Daddy (saves this for when she's cross with me)
She is 2.10

I really shouldn't read these threads. They amuse me and horrify me in equal measure. DS is 14 months so it's all ahead of me. I'm scared.

CareBearWithFangs · 07/08/2014 13:15

Haha these are hilarious. Makes me feel so much better.

Yesterday DD (3) because her scooter was every so slightly wet - it had been raining so the bottoms of her feet were slightly damp.

We've also had absolute sobbing over her monkey poking her in the eye, her doll not singing well enough and because she couldn't see anything with her eyes closed.

From DS aged 3.10 yesterday: He had a piece of purple card that he was ripping up into "shapes" and then throwing around the garden (we were outside with him trying to have dinner). There were loads of bits. DH picked one up, and started fashioning it into a mini-paper aeroplane to show him. Cue ten minutes of hysterical sobbing from DS which culminated in three minutes in the naughty corner after he belted DH hard with his toy panda.

bearfrills · 07/08/2014 17:20

DD is 2.11 and a bit 'dramatic'.

Lately she has:

  • cried because her shadow wouldn't stop following her which escalated to her running along the street, shrieking in terror, repeatedly checking over her shoulder to see if it was still following her
  • cried because she doesn't want to walk
  • cried because she doesn't want to go in the buggy
  • cried because she can't hover after I suggested "learn to hover then" as a solution for the above
  • cried because I girl at soft play wouldn't let her be Elsa
  • cried because we asked her which Skyline Gang costume she wanted after she asked "can I have a Skyline Gang costume?"
  • cried because, three days after we got home from our holiday, she decided she did want a Skyline Gang costume after all
FamiliesShareGerms · 07/08/2014 18:21

Because the water in the swimming pool was "wet".

Because after removing the brown bit from the banana as requested it was then "broken" and I could not glue it back together

didyoumeantobesojumperude · 07/08/2014 20:47

After I took my breastpad of him that he holds whilst feeding.

When I picked him up to stop him pushing himself off the bed (he's recently learnt to 'go backwards').

Because the Sky advert finished.

Because I took his bib off.

(9 months old) - is it wrong to laugh?! Grin

*off

LittleMissRayofHope · 07/08/2014 21:41

Today's included:

She broke her stick of chalk. I was unable to mend it.
She wanted the big piece, then the small piece. Then to fix it. I am heavily pregnant so at this point thought sod it, im and got a new stick of chalk.

She then cried because the new stick wasn't broken....

Her teddy napped too long

She threw her leap top on the floor so I confiscated it

She wanted christmas

She was given new slippers but they won't slide on the floor - none of her socks shoes or slippers have ever slid on our floors so this really baffled us

Roll on September when she has 2 days a week nursery!! Mummy needs a recharge!!

  • because she wanted to stay in the boiling hot porch rather than go out or go back inside ie we can either go out now or go back inside but we cant stay in the porch which do you want to do? Stay in the porch. Yea I guessed as much!

-because she wanted the rain cover on even though it wasn't raining (it had been raining a bit earlier so perhaps she was confused), then wanted it off once I put it on, then wanted it back on again

-wanted me to sleep in her bed for her nap while she trashed my bedroom, cue tantrum when I led her back into her room

-once in said bed tantrum because she wanted duvet off her legs, then back on, then off again, then back on and refusing to let me leave the room until I indulged this ridiculous game. I did leave the room but this resulted in a full blown, all out melt down

-because she wanted to go home from the supermarket in the nicer, silver, newer car that was parked next to ours- cue refusing to get in the car seat and announcing she wanted to go home in the other car instead.

That's just all in one day today.

LittlePink · 08/08/2014 19:06

Shes 2.2 yrs by the way!

halfdrunkcoffee · 08/08/2014 22:02

So many! (Maybe not all today). (DS is 3.8).

I took all the shell off his hard-boiled egg.
We didn't go to the Co-op at the right time.
I gave him a blue knife and fork instead of the red ones.
I flushed the toilet when he wanted to.
I gave him the wrong colour plate.

MissMysticFalls · 08/08/2014 22:15

Because I gave him a sandwich made of one slice of bread folded over instead of two slices cut in half - which meant he couldn't see the cheese in the middle.

Because there was muesli stuck on his spoon.

Because he dropped some pasta and I couldn't find it.

Because he poured water all over himself.

Today's been a v good day. He's 2.5

soupmaker · 08/08/2014 22:33

Because she is 6.6 and thinks she is the centre of the universe and can do and have whatever she wants, therefore when disabused of this idea by her mother saying no to her ridiculous demands, has an overly dramatic hissy fit which includes feet stamping, wailing and pretend crying.

We have had this all day everyday for a week or so.

I can't wait for her to go back to school.

And relax.

soupmaker · 08/08/2014 22:35

I do adore the wee minx, but she's hard work just now.

Emmiedarling · 08/08/2014 22:41

He cried for about half an hour - real proper tears - because i told him he couldn't put his hands down the loo.

He's nearly two.

Just5minspeace · 08/08/2014 22:46

These are fabulous! I am crying with laughter... They have cheered me up after a stressful day of dealing with my 3!

hmc · 08/08/2014 22:49

Because I wouldn't order filet steak for her at a pub lunch (at £18!) - she is 12. They were tears of righteous anger!

Familyguyfan · 08/08/2014 22:53

A recurrent theme of late is that it isn't snowing. This is accompanied by tears and occasional foot stamping that we aren't changing tge weather and why does it never snow.

Then she cried when it rained! I think over tiredness has a lot to answer for.

Very funny though!

Passmethecrisps · 08/08/2014 23:12

You utter bastard hmc!

Because her lolly melted after she left it on the table (actually I ate it but it would have melted).
Because we've run out of magic beans (this melt down was in Waitrose, much to many shoppers' amusement as she threw herself into the middle of the aisle and sobbed 'I. NEED.MAGIC.BEANS')
Also because it's not Christmas

SantasLittleMonkeyButler · 09/08/2014 01:27

DD (3 today Grin ) is a queen of tantrums.

Some recent gems include;

Not letting her have some of "mummy's juice" (wine) as a bedtime drink.

Not letting her have Coke as a bedtime drink.

Not bringing the pushchair on a short walk (when DD had already said she "don't want poochair. I can walk. I am a big girl.")

Not wanting to take her dress off, despite wanting to put her pyjamas on.

Her favourite phrase at the moment is "I can't like it". Smile

CugglesandTisses · 09/08/2014 21:57

I was at a wedding party last night with DD age 3. The bride had set up fishbowls of sweets for the kids on a side table.

DD asked for a sweet from the bowl, I replied yes sure. So far so good. DH passed DD a sweet at which she dissolved into heartfelt sobs, snot, the works. Through heaving shuddery breaths we managed to decipher that, in fact, she had wanted me to give it to her instead!

I never appreciated how upsetting being given a sweet can be...

She won't be 3 for ever ... thank god!

Flozle · 15/08/2014 00:01

My niece entertained an entire carriage load on the 5.30 from Waterloo, wailing because "you told me to do something". The collective sigh of relief as we got off was audible.
