Right - next question!

As the Wambamboo wraps aren't available yet, which wraps would you recommend. Want something that will be as leak/wick proof as possible , as I don't want to get put off using them by a soggy baby.

Also, which are the best liners for DD? Obviously, I want something that'll keep as much of the moisture as possible away from her little bottom!

Thanks in advance.

Motherease Airflow. No wicking or anything, keeps the air circulating nicely. Or you could go for wackywraps - fleece so you get the softness, but with a waterproof inner bit so not the compression dampness.

Liners - fleece liners. Either bought (most of mine are nappy lady ones that I was given - which are a good size), or just buy a length of fleece from a fabric shop (or ikea fleece blankets), and cut them yourself.

Thanks Flamesparrow.

Will the fleece liners keep her feeling nice and dry then? The one thing that I didn't like when I did a trial of other shaped nappies was the speed with which she got a damp bot .

Also - as you seem to be the Wambamboo expert on here, are they really as slim as disposible nappies?

I'm not sure I'd go as far as "as slim as disposables" but they are one of the slimmest cloth nappies I have tried, and I haven't had any problems fitting clothes over them with an airflow wrap (fleece ones can add that teeny bit extra bulk).

Fleece liners are great - the moisture just goes straight through to the nappy so it is all absorbed, and the fleece stays dry iyswim. Only in a completely sodden nappy does he feel slightly slightly damp. First few days of fleece I kept making DH feel his bum after I took the nappy off (I do realise that I have a sad little life....)

Flamesparrow, I've been reading your posts about wambamboo and have been so impressed with your enthusiasm for them I've gone and ordered 2m of bamboo fabric from them to try and make my own nappies. I love the bamboozles but you've been saying how nice these are and I have to say the fabric is so soft, it's actually a shame to have to cut it up. I just want to wrap myself in it. The people at wambamboo have been so helpful too. I wonder what the nappies will turn out like

Flamesparrow · 12/09/2006 14:20

I heard someone talking about making bamboo towels the other day which sounds looooovely!

nappyaddict · 13/09/2006 20:54

rikki wraps are best as they are aplix and therefore a better fit and have leg gussets which is great for containment.

also the seller loganthomasmitchel on ebay sells fleece liners - 5 for 99p and 50p postage no matter how many you buy. i bought 10 cos im lazy but you could just by 5 to use as a template and then buy some fleece and do your own. the designs she does are really cute too!

lrwg · 18/09/2006 10:48

Thanks Nappyaddict & Flamesparrow. I'm going to order a couple of nappies and a airflow and rickiwrap and see which we get on with. Will keep you posted....

Have just received my trial WBB. Have bought a couple of ME airflow wraps from a lady on UKP. Will see how we go, but on first impressions - I do like the WBB, lovely and silky.

How many times do I need to wash it before use? Don't want to use it not at its best as I think DH is having second thoughts and need to convince him!!!

OP posts:
CaptainFlameSparrow · 20/09/2006 13:32

At least 3 times is best.

I washed my first one twice, then gave it a trial outing driving to Wales (about 4-5 hours sat in car seat) and it was fine.

And yup, it'd be me

lrwg · 20/09/2006 13:37

Do you have a website/details?

OP posts:
moondog · 20/09/2006 13:38

Can I just openly air my musings?
Why do all reusable nappies now have such fecking silly names??

As you were,ladies.

lrwg · 20/09/2006 13:41

So it's not just me who feels a pillock phoning companies to ask about trialling Tots Bots etc. - made all the more interesting when you get a wrong number and the person on the other end thinks you are some kind of sick freak!

OP posts:
CaptainFlameSparrow · 20/09/2006 13:43

They do. But so do pampers with "caterpillar somethings" etc

moondog · 20/09/2006 13:44

lol (Am Bambino user myself btw)
Remind me of my friend asking for The Police's 'Da do do do Da Da Da Da' ags ago in Woolworth when we were about 12.
The asistant couldn't hear her,so she repeated it three times.

lrwg · 20/09/2006 13:47

So... CaptainFlameSparrow... do you have a website or anything like that for your nappy selling antics?

OP posts:
fruitful · 20/09/2006 13:49

Yes come on, website please. Because I've just googled WamBamBoo and its an Asian dating site, apparently.

CaptainFlameSparrow · 20/09/2006 13:50

Nope. Really should do summat like that, but I have no idea how....

lrwg · 20/09/2006 13:52

www.blogger.com/start is quite good for posting a free site with templates and stuff for design on....

OP posts:
CaptainFlameSparrow · 20/09/2006 13:55

lol - I'm working as an agent for wambamboo these, and will also be working for babykind when I get ink in my printer to send back the contract.

CaptainFlameSparrow · 20/09/2006 13:58

Thanks - I'll play on there later

lrwg · 20/09/2006 14:00

No problem - am off to wake the sleeping beast for lunch and then will wash my WBB

OP posts:
moondog · 20/09/2006 14:00

lmao at Asian dating site

lrwg · 28/09/2006 20:40

Finally tried my WBB today (ME wraps didn't arrive until today) and think I'm going to bite the bullet and order some .

The only problem I had was some dampness passed through the wrap onto her vest and trousers, but am guessing that's compression dampness and I either have learn to change her more frequently of put looser clothes on her - am I correct?
