I have got some one life cloth nappies but unsure where to go from here. What wraps, liners are best, how do i pad them for night?
seen a lot about other kinds, but nothing about one life.

i would order a selection of say a couple of motherease, bummis if they have them and try a fleece wrap for night - remember it needs to be roomy enough for a boosted nappy. i would be tempted by a wacky wrap too - flame likes them and they are half fleece/half PUL.
where are you ordering from and I can have a look what they've got...
i got my fleecy liners off ebay. very cheap. put funky brights liners into the search and see if they come up.

laundrylover · 23/08/2006 18:14

oh poor littlepiggie i am so sorry that we were around this afty!! the bat is on flame's last link....check him out.
catch up with you later when the babe's are sleeping and we are not so giddy.

Flamesparrow · 23/08/2006 18:23

even sent a nappy bottle promoting wambams

Bagpuss30 · 23/08/2006 18:42

Sorry, Flame, just read the link and realised you can buy direct , thanks anyway . One other thing, aplix or nippa?

btw, I made some fleece liners from half a metre of fleece bought in John Lewis for £4. It made about 15 or so.

Flamey · 23/08/2006 18:44

I'm a nippa girlie. Never had any issues with the whole not gripping thing. I have got one aplix one, but where they are so big for BTP purposes, it is really high on the waist and I can't use it yet.

maisiemog · 23/08/2006 18:58

I have been using cotton bottoms/bummis superwhisper wraps in medium since my DS was 4 months and he is still wearing that size at 22 months. They are also extremely cute.
Recommend wool for nights though. Popolini poppered wool wraps are great, but there are loads and load out there to try.

littlepiggie · 23/08/2006 19:01

i am still in a tis
so i get fleece wraps are good at night, what about in the day? are fleece ok for things like in the pram and in the car? or arre air flow better?
what are tots bots like? look cute.
And wraps just go ower ready folded nappies with a liner on.
am i on th right track? its a mine field.
size wise will just look at weights, just dont know what yet!

i have more questions.
ok do fluffles need wraps and linners? they look very cute.
do the wraps need to be changed every time the nappy is?
there all sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo cute BTW

OP posts:
Bagpuss30 · 23/08/2006 20:28

Yes they do need wraps but not liners as they are already lined with fleece. They are quite good at night I've found as you can put extra boosters in between the liner and the nappy (it opens at one end) thus increasing absorbancy. You should not need to change the wrap every time you change the nappy unless it is dirty. HTH .

littlepiggie · 23/08/2006 21:06

i am worried that ds will also feel damp as even with liners the tops and sides feel wet.

laundrylover · 23/08/2006 21:29

littlepiggie where are you based? It would be helpful for you to either visit a real nappy user or have an advisor come round. I have a friend coming round tomorrow to have a hands on go!
If you go to Twinkle on the web (google it) they have a great brochure which explains all your nappy options. You can download it but it's difficult to read as done on printer format. Or look on the Cloth Nappy Virgin thread and email me your address and I'll stick one in the post as have a few. You don't have to buy from them - just get info from the brochure!

maisiemog · 23/08/2006 22:35

I went through a phase of worrying about DS feeling wet, but I haven't noticed any difference in his behaviour with fleece or non-fleece lined nappies, he certainly doesn't act as if he is more comfortable in either. If anything he has a bit of a red bum with fleece nappies. Something to bear in mind is that quite a few babies are actually allergic to fleece, so I would say don't obsess too much about whether a nappy is fleece lined, it is likely to make little to no difference anyway.
Urine is sterile anyway so shouldn't affect your child's skin, it's when they do poops that they have rashes whether or not the nappy has a fleece lining.

littlepiggie · 24/08/2006 09:57

got some fleece wraps from tots bots, think i will need to get some air flow ones as well though.
been and got print out from twinkle.
I cant belive i am all giddy about nappies

Littlepiggie - have a look at Wee Notions for the most gorgeous and amazingly well made wraps ever.

If I had the dosh I would even replace my Motherease wraps with these.

They'll even make the designs to order if you fancy mixing and matching the colours. Can't recommend them highly enough!

Their nappies are fantastic too - but no-one seems to know much about them yet. Spread the word!!!!!!

laundrylover · 24/08/2006 11:08

bobsmum nooooooooo!!!!!! Stop it now - I can't take any more nappy torture. I will soon be a single parent with a house full of bloody nappies and will not notice that DP has left until the bins don't get put out!!

littlepiggie · 24/08/2006 11:10

there all so cute.
i could go silly and buy loads. Think i will try fluffles at night, they sound more absorbant wuth less bulk.

littlepiggie · 24/08/2006 11:11

lol
dh thinks i have gone mad, although said he liked the spotty tots bots.

OP posts:
bobsmum · 24/08/2006 11:13

Laundrylover - you know you want to They'll even embroider the back for maximum showing off cuteness. It's easy to justify with a dd cos she's always showing off her pants in a dress or skirt - hope she stops that when she's older Harder with a ds, but hey - any excuse!!

littlepiggie · 24/08/2006 11:16

its not fair, boys cant show nappies off in a dress

OP posts:
bobsmum · 24/08/2006 11:35

LP - but while the weather's still good a T shirt and a funky nappy is sooo cute. Or just lurk in the baby change of your nearest shopping centre "changing" his nappy and wait for the envious comments

Ah..have I said too much? Am I giving too much away about my sad nappified existence.....

littlepiggie · 24/08/2006 11:43

its a bit cold here already, ds has a jacket on while out in his pram yesterday

bobsmum · 24/08/2006 11:44

youknowwhat · 24/08/2006 12:51

bobsmum, I had never heard about them before. Could tell me if it make the nappy of the thin side or the bulky side?
Look really great thought... Not sure if I can resist....
Not another nappy aaarrrrrg.....
