Talk to me about vests!

My oldest is five and hasn't worn a vest since he was under two. If it is cold he wears a long sleeved t-shirt under a jumper. I just read on another thread about it being mentioined (on here?) that children without vests have been described as neglected, and actually remember my neighbour, whose children are 8 and 10, wearing vests. So do your children wear vests? At what age did you stop? Are vests fundementally important? It had not occured to me to buy vests beyond the age of two and the baby vests with the poppers.

DD 4 not worn vest since she was 18months she feels the heat the minute she gets home or to school she removes jumpers etc at home she also removes tights/leggings /socks even on coldest night she is like a hot water bottle in short sleeved nightie
she has fluffy pyjamas but says they are too hot, I believe her as when I made her wear them ( it was 14C) in bedroom and about -2C outside she woke up red and sweaty, making her wear a vest when I don't and she is not cold is just mean, I do not really feel the cold much unless my feet get really cold
she no longer possesses a vest if she needed an extra layer would use another t shirt

my son never wears a vest to school they have the heating on too high and if he wears a vest he comes out looking like he has been on a sunbed!

DD is 2.5 and I have recently put her in vests. The none popper type as she has been potty trained since May. She alway untucks it. It’s handy for soft play as I can easily take off her long sleeved top so she does not get too hot running around.

I am amazed at the number of layers people’s children wear to bed. DD has a pull up and a 4 tog duvet.

Interesting thread...

I've been totally planning on not putting my (now 6 month old) daughter in a vest when she's at an age where her top stops riding up! So like maybe somewhere between ages 1-2. It's funny to think someone may deem this as neglect as people often call my daughter the best dressed baby around 😂 (she's always in funky bright clothes). And I clearly take pride in her appearance.

Also I'm 1 of 4 and I vaguely remember wearing a vest as a small child but none of us wore vests for most of our child hood.
