Am I being lazy?

DS1 is nearly 6 weeks. I'm wondering if I'm being "lazy" by leaving him in sleep suits most days. Today both nanas are here & we went out for a walk & coffee but DS remained in the sleep suit & vest (plus hat/star wrap/blanket etc - don't want you all to think I'm a negligent mum!)

To be fair he's only really started to fit in 0-3 months clothing so the cute outfits have only just started to not be massive on him.

If I know we are having "special" visitors (grandparents don't count) I'll try & put him in something cute but otherwise he wears a vest and a sleep suit all day.

& often the same sleep suit for 2 days (maybe even 3!) if there are no sick/pee/poo incidents.

Am I being lazy?? Or is this normal?

If not normal, then at least sensible. Certainly it's what I did. I remember HV saying how organised I was making it to an early appointment. I pointed out it's not that hard if you ring the baby in their pyjamas .

Normal. All 3 of mine spent the majority of their whole first year in sleep suits, only graduating to clothes when walking.

My baby is nearly 1 & still wears them indoors, with a cardigan & to the Supermarket

It's normal/sensible/comfortable clothing for a baby :)

I wouldn't have the same one on for more than 24 hours though - nice fresh set at some point each day.

... along with anyone that tells you that the baby will understand night from day if you put 'day' clothes and 'night' clothes on them deserves a double

Just saw yet another photo on FB on someone's newborn wearing yet another cute outfit. I've resolved for next baby to only buy sleep suits in newborn size!

Totally normal. I generally went for white sleepsuots at night time and snazzier ones for daytime but that was for my own enjoyment - newly bathed sleepy baby wrapped in a pristine white onezie for bed was adorable.

Think at about six months id put her in little basic leggings and tops or, my favourite, a pair of tights and a long sleeved vest over. So snuggly and easy.

Completely normal. My DCs started nursery wearing sleep suits every day (6mo and 9mo) and only really started with "proper" clothes around 12mo.

My DC1 is a girl and I even found some little jersey pinafore dresses that slipped over her sleep suits for when we saw other people. This giving the impression I had dressed her properly, when in reality I hadn't.

A sleepsuit never lasts a whole day anyway, without milk, vomit or poo on it, they get changed enough without more clothes thrown into the washing pile mix.

Most of our friends seemed to dress their DC in "proper clothes" way before I did with DD. They didn't look comfortable being pulled into tights or with hard waistbands. Particularly when they weren't mobile. I also didn't put dresses on DD while she was crawling as it didn't look practical.

My absolute favourite thing to dress DD in as a baby was romper suits with poppers up the front - they are really practical and if your baby stretches out they don't pull at the baby's toes.

My hv told em the bollocks that if I put ds1 in clothes he would tell night frok day and sleep ....ha ha ha.

Normal. If anyone makes negative comments tell them your DC is bang on trend wearing a onesie.

I think it's more comfortable for them to be in a sleepsuit, plus they're not babies for long; they've got years of wearing outfits and daytime clothes ahead of them!

I think it's lovely my dd was always in that type of thing. Hate seeing tiny babies in silly uncomfortable little outfits. Not lazy at all

Sleep suits for dd all day, every day, changed twice, once in the morning then a clean one after daily bath in the evening. Perfect baby clothing.

Normal for 1st 3 months.

Once she was into 3-6 months clothes, I started to separate day and night.

normal.now dd is 4 months I try to put her in more outfits (dungarees are comfy and easy!) but if wer having lazy days she has a sleepsuit on.

Mine is 4 weeks, I'm the same, special visitors or day trips out he wears something more 'outfitty' bit when we are home all day, he mostly sleeps so sleep suits seem sensible and make for easier nappy changes.

It makes me giggle that back to his first few days where we changed him after every tiny sick up, now I'm wiping up with a dribble bib and thinking, 'hmm, that's still good, right?'
