What are your favourite toddler books?

My son has just turned two and he loves reading, which I'm really pleased about as I love reading too and now I can enjoy all the kids books again . What are your and your toddlers favourites? We love the two books by Chris Haughton Lost and Oh No George. A new favourite is when Once they were giants which I thought might be too old but he loves. He loves Toddle Waddle and the woodland friends Julia Donaldson books esp.Postman Bear. He also loves a mr tumble book that we got given though I am not so keen, very repetitive. I love dogger but think it's a bit old for him as lots of words but he does like some of the pictures. He also likes the 100 words style books which are a bit boring for me! Oh and we both love Goodnight Moon. He shows no interest in 'We're going on a bear hunt' which is meant to be a real favourite. Interested to hear other people's favourites.

I've not heard of those bunnychan but like most of the GooFawkwes books. We've never got Peepo though, is it worth getting now or is it aimed at younger children?

Don't know Clovis either. This is great, lots of new ideas. The bookshops always seem to have the same ones.

I can't find Clovis on Amazon. Who it by?

Not Now Bernard, Peebo, and I Took the Moon for a Walk are the favourites in this house. Peebo will last for ages, DD adores it (and particularly likes it if I narrate our day in the Peebo style) and it's got very detailed pictures that they can look at and try and name objects.

Each Peach fucking Pear Plum is also good, but it really gets on my wick...

Harry and His Bucketful of Dinosaurs are great too. The Book People were doing 14 books for £15 recently.

I love love love owl babies . Also the Alfie books, and Richard Scary were/are big favourites.

Sometimes I try and read more traditional stuff with them (dc are 2 and 4) but little red riding hood is a bit shockingly gorey! I used to love childen's poems - grasshoper green is a comical chap, come into my parlour said the spider to the fly etc but they don't seem to go down so well... I'll keep trying though!

Hated hated HATEd that bear hunt one!

Oliver Jeffers books are brilliantly ridiculous

I love the dark humour of "I want my hat back"

Oh yes the hungry caterpillar is a BIG favourite hear too. I love the one about the chameleon by Eric carle and have still got it but he's not so bothered so far. Also love snail and the whale but not so keen on the busker cat one. So many suggestion here, I think we may need a new house, or lots of money for overdue library books (knowing me!).

Anything by Julia Donaldson - I think Monkey Puzzle was an early favourite, but love them all.

The Clovis book is The Loudest Roar by Thomas Taylor.

Mr Pusskins and Christopher Nibble are favourites here.

We love Chris Haughton too, but Dogger is also a real hit and recently we've been enjoying Katie Morag, Maisy, Mog, Hairy MacClary and slinky Malinky books.

We also have this book Eyes, Nose, Toes Peekaboo which he loves as well as Pip and Posy (I never enjoy them but he loves them).

Lots of the same ones here - the entire Julia Donaldson backlist (or so it seems), Tiger Who Came to Tea, Very Hungry Caterpillar, Owl Babies, Lost & Oh No George, and This is Not My Hat (or Fissssshat book!).

Also Elmer - Bought and old copy from a charity shop in desperation and they both went MAD for it. Must get the others now I've remembered..

A funny little book called Betty and the Yeti.

A lovely one about colours called Wow Said the Owl.

But now they've discovered Thomas the Tank Engine and, to a lesser extent, Mr Men. I'm gong to have to go on Book People and find at Thomas collection as I cannot read the same ones any more.
