The Truth About Videogames

makingparentsrealise · 28/09/2013 10:02

To all parents out there here's the kicker. Videogames are like, comic books, movies, TV shows and all other things it depends on the person some people are addicted to it like other things there are people who occasionally eat fast food and there are some people who eat 2 hoagies at least. There are always people taking things to extremes and it is your child's choice whether they want to do something or not you can't force yourself down their throats otherwise your comic books and movies may disappear without inspiration from other sources. And if your wondering if videogames cause violence here's the thing millions of people play videogames media only picks out a handful of people it depends on your psychotic state and if you think games should be banned don't ask for big brother to help it is fine if you don't like videogames so you might as well get a computer they will get a handful of free games and there are also many applications other than videogames. And there is no concrete evidence that it causes violence. Make your child get inside his or her classroom put their ds or other portable console in their desk or give it to the teacher and tell the him or her to get out for their free time. If you hate the idea of them losing games here's the solution get them a flash cart it is legal game retailers don't like it because you can download games onto them for free (plastic and wiring too costly) you can also download movies and music on some. Also if you don't like noise get them ear plugs or headphones. So if all your kids have the same game and have a ds (some games allow download play but that usually have limited features so its better to get two games other than one the two ds thing is also mandatory) they can play multiplayer also some games have blowing and moving the game so there is stuff for movement parents too. Also if you want your child to stay fit inside I recommend the kinect, wii or playstation move they are stationary consoles but you can ask the teacher to set it up unless you get the wii that thing is easy to set up with a TV and is quick to put down and pick up. Also if you like touching things I'd recommend a tablet or another stationary option the wii u it has tons of exclusives such as pikmin 3, The Wonderful 101 and others. The 3ds also has a lot to love you can turn of the 3d in parental controls and has newer games than the regular ds it costs a bit of money or you could get the newly announced 2ds and I would recommend pokemon x and y on it. The game has so many things to do and will keep your child happy. So if it is broken that's your fault for not reminding and here's the thing your parents so of course you have to help them remember and teach them how to not break stuff and teach them to be careful with their things.

It is perfectly possibel to make money from hobbies or use the skills from hobbies and turn it into a job. Obviuously a lot fo people are employed devising games, making them, marketing them, selling them etc.
But a person needs to get their lives balanced. Never froget that.

It doesnt sound like you make a whole heap of money, not enough if you ever want a family. But then again, you are only 19.

makingparentsrealise · 28/09/2013 11:47

My team usually comes in third if your in first a lot of tournaments could get you over one million dollars.

OP posts:
makingparentsrealise · 28/09/2013 11:51

And I get first class tickets to them for free. Also if my team gets in first we could win 2 million for this next tournament.

makingparentsrealise · 28/09/2013 11:54

And I am generally worried that parents are going to think gaming is bad.

wow. Didnt realise it was all so big.
All of the above to your letters. As a lot of things, different things mean different things to different people. With respect, most parents have the bases covered as regards video games. They have been around a log while now. There is always someone to ask, if parent themselves want help. Often parent have grown up with them and are playing them with their children.

makingparentsrealise · 28/09/2013 14:07

I know and that is not as big as others. We just need to promote the use of videogames.

OP posts:
FavoriteThings · 28/09/2013 14:57

Ha! No we dont. You know how big it all is. I think you are having a laugh really.

HowardTJMoon · 28/09/2013 15:36

Gaming is a multi-billion dollar industry. It spend tens of millions on promoting gaming. Every child I know over the age of 5 is well aware of games. Why should we, as parents, promote games as well?

HowardTJMoon · 28/09/2013 15:42

One more thing - I was playing computer games fifteen years before you were born. What is it you think you can tell me about gaming that I may not already know?

makingparentsrealise · 30/09/2013 10:36

Well have you been keeping up with news you would know that 85 % of parents think games cause violence and all the bad things I have been mentioning are true.

OP posts:
MoaningMingeWhingesAgain · 30/09/2013 10:44

I don't think 85% of parents think video games cause violence.

They can cause grumpy children who don't know how to ride a bike though.

But thank you for your perceptive insight on what I should allow my children to play with, what to but for them and to ensure they don't break them Hmm

Believing that violence in video games is a problem and believing that video games cause violence are not the same thing.

I don't believe that Mario causes violence, but I wouldn't want my child playing GTA, or being exposed to the violence in it.

makingparentsrealise · 30/09/2013 12:02

Well here's a reaction from someone.
