I dont know but that names pretentious. I guess if you lived in a beach hut at the Hamptons it might fit in with your decor.

That gave me the wiggins, the first thing I thought when I saw it was it looked like something you'd leave by a grave. A new baby gift? If someone gave me that as a baby gift I'd be utterly mortified.

We gave one if those to DH's uncle and aunt as a ruby wedding gift, it had their initials with a heart in between.
They've incorporated into their rockery - they are really into gardening.

Also gave one to a child as a Pagan Naming gift. His name means 'stone' in medieval English, so it seemed appropriate enough.

yy, even the photographer looks like they've had trouble knowing what to do with them! Just plonked them on a plate on a bench.

My brother did give DD the biggest Toblerone ever for her first Christmas...she was born 26th Nov.

But at least I got to eat that - wtf would you do with a stone?!!!

I usually do a wwf for newborns... parent can take it up after the year if they like.

Sorry, but I beat that.
When DD was born mil went to a fancy pharmacy to buy me and DD some treats - body lotion for me, baby bath stuff etc. The lady there offered to put together a basket of goodies while mil pottered.

Later, when we investigated the basket's contents, we saw that the pharmacy lady had thrown in some freebies of BABY COLOGNE.

Perfume for newborn babies, anyone?

I was given a cricket ball when DS was born - hoping he would get into cricket I suppose. Strange though as neither I or anyone in our family are particularly interested in cricket.

I was on a flight just last year and in the little bag they give you when travelling with a baby was a bottle of baby cologne - I didn't know what I was supposed to do with it (was quite a big bottle really)..

I was told that it was still vaguely in use in Spain - although I'm still not quite sure what for.. I guess for wiping on to cool the baby down?

I can see the stone for anniversaries or whatever - but I do think it's odd to give heavy objects like that to a baby/toddler. No good can come of it.

I'd rather a pebble than the personalised football kits DH's brother has given each of my newborns.

My MIL bought one for DS1 for his first Christmas......it is in the loft
She also gave us one with our wedding date engraved...that one is in our bedroom. I quite like them but not really suitable for newborns/ babies/ young children!

The name is quite apt.

I am not a fan of personalised gee gaws like samplers for the day you were married etc.
