Def NO to Casualty!. DS1 is 3 next week and can watch Maggie & fer beast, Dora type things (Nick Jnr), Fireman Sam, Wiggles, Thomas DVDs and likes Busy World of Richard Scary (PopJnr 7pm). TV time is strictly limited, but comes in useful when I'm getting ready for work, feeding ds2 or putting ds2 to bed (that's when he watches Richard Scary.then it's stories and bedtime). Thought I might get him some Disney type DVDs but tbh some of them are stil a bit scary in parts for him I think.

No. My two are just 5 and they have never seen anything like that, and also have no idea what Eastenders is. Not suitable IMO.

My son has real problems watching programmes about natural disasters, Tsunami, hurracaines etc. He's 7 he is very interested in these subjects but hes a real thinker/ worrier, and will watch the weather forcast just to make sure!!What should i do, I cant tell him they are not real, i cant even tell him we dont get natural disasters in the uk because that wouldnt be true, his teacher told him we do get earthquakes in the UK, because he asked her about them. (thanks Miss!!) any comments

My dh has recently introduced ds1 to Star Wars (ds1 will be 3 in June). He loves it - spaceships, lightsabers, Luke falling down the hole, I would have been happier to wait and stay at the cbeebies/thomas stage a while longer (he still watches these). However dh is Star Wars obsessed himself (since age 7, now 32)so he thinks its a great idea. We wouldnt let him watch parts 2 and 3 (attack of the clones and revenge of the sith) as they are a bit nastier in parts.
certainly wouldnt let him watch the news or any soaps but then I dont watch them myself either.

Casualty is an adult programme so absolutely not.

magicfarawaytree · 14/03/2006 20:15

my dd only 4 in January loves casualty. we record if for her and she watches it on sunday. she is not fazed by the blood at all, i even came in to find her giving cpr to the noddy doll. I was so proud. We try to talk her through what is going and try to see how much of it she understands.

I think I will let my lo watch Corrers once he is staying up until 8 (I guess at about 8/10 years old?)it is usually pretty tame esp the early episodes? TBH I hated soaps when I was a kid esp corrers, thought they were bor-ring.

hugeheadofhair · 15/03/2006 21:00

DS1 (6) and DS2(4) watch mostly cbeebies and love it, but we also watch a lot of nature/animal documentaries, scrap heap challenge, formula 1 Grand Prix, Top of the pops, and you've been framed kind of programmes. So, no gore, no sex, no violence (unless it's animals Grin).

when my boy was a couple of weeks old, he was a really grumpy baby and i never had the chance to just sit and eat my dinner without him whingeing. i found out he like the tv and i admit he caught a couple of episodes of csi in his bouncer right in front of the tv. wouldn't do it now, he'd probably try to copy what was on the telly but at the time it was a lifesaver

willow2 · 16/03/2006 09:28

CSI Miami?

Piffle · 16/03/2006 09:31
