I am so glad most people are saying Nooooooooo

I had a panic attack during a Casualty episode when I was 22 - the same episode would still cause me to leave the room in a panic

Goodness knows what effect it could have on a 4yo

Mykidsmum - Maybe your dd needs to watch it so she can work out why she is soooooooo hungry - A little joke to make you feel better cos I have been thinking about your dd!

Grin both my dd's are medical programme obsessed, yeah perhaps i should just ask her, she could probably self diagnose Grin

janeite · 11/03/2006 22:21

Wouldn't let mine watch it and the oldest is 11.

BadHair · 11/03/2006 22:23

No. It would scare mine rigid.

Mytwopenceworth · 11/03/2006 22:24

no no no. far too much potential for nightmares! some of the stuff on these sorts of programmes could really prey on a young mind.

  • much rather sit down with big bar of choc to enjoy mayhem and gore alone!!
BudaBabe · 11/03/2006 23:11

We don't get it here but DS has seen it a few times at my Mums. First time he became a total hypochondriac - now he loves it and Holby City.

I wouldn't let him see it here as a matter of course but at my Mum's he potters about between the room where it is on and the room my Dad is watching God only knows what - footie usually!!

But I don't feel it is suitable.

I remember staying at a friends before I had DS and she asked me to switch off Corrie - hadn't really thought about it till then TBH. But agree it is not viewing for children. I watched it growing up but in the days when it was OK.

GDG · 11/03/2006 23:11

No way!! He's 5 at the end of the month and he's tucked up in bed and fast asleep well before Casualty comes on anyway. Too gory and adult for him.

A friend of mine let hers stay up to watch X factor when it was on - I'm far too mean - 'go on, off to bed, mummy's programme is on' Grin

GDG · 11/03/2006 23:14

Mine don't see the news either - too many disturbing images. 5 year olds (and 3 and 1 yr olds Grin) don't need to be worrying about world affairs imo. I'm planning to protect their innocence for as long as possible.

SorenLorensen · 11/03/2006 23:17

No. And like WWW, my eldest is 8 (9 on Monday!) I'm quite strict about what they watch - I try not to let even ds1 see the news as he's a sensitive soul and he worries (one of those "I must take all the world's troubles on my shoulders" types, poor lad).

One of ds1's contemporaries watches Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel, Invasion, all the soaps...

expatinscotland · 11/03/2006 23:17

no

MarsLady · 11/03/2006 23:19

nope!

brimfull · 11/03/2006 23:19

My dd wasn't alowed to watch this until she was 12Shock

Arabica · 11/03/2006 23:37

No--he's too young, imo.

VeniVidiVickiQV · 11/03/2006 23:41

Good God no!

moondog · 11/03/2006 23:42

I wouldn't even permit myself to watch dreary drivel like this, let alone my kid.
Heavens, not while there is life to be lived!

Twinkie1 · 12/03/2006 00:40

No DD cries when she sees it - although she knows its not real she says she doesnl;t like knowing something bad is going to happen!!

Troutpout · 12/03/2006 17:05

Lol! ds (8) is very sensitive soul who can only just manage kids films let alone Casualty!

Greensleeves · 12/03/2006 18:46

DH and I decided against letting ds1 (3.4) watch Disney's Sleeping Beauty or Snow White today because they are too frighteningGrin

Enid · 12/03/2006 18:46

no

desperatehousewife · 12/03/2006 18:47

no

JoPG · 12/03/2006 19:43

KAz33 - I remeber the squah racket episode of Caualty as well, and it still makes me squirm when I think about it. Yuck.

BTW - to answer original question I would not let DS1 (age4) watch Casualty or EastEnders etc. A couple of his friends have seen King Kong at the cinema (it scared me, and too many guns). DS1 has seen Chicken Little - I don't think anyone could be against that??

nulnulcat · 12/03/2006 20:05

wouldnt let dd (2.4) watch any grown up tv at all no news or soaps she goes to bed at 7 then i can have grown up tv on then ended up with an ice skating obsession after seeing whatever it was called repeated one sunday so we ended up having to record it for her to watch during the day i was a cruel mummy wouldnt let her stay up late for it

pesme · 12/03/2006 20:08

NO - and i remember the squash racket episode, seriously disturbing stuff.
