Calling all mums of DDs

Don't quite know how to word this BUT....

I have 2 DSs, they have willys.

What does my DD have? The words I use aren't really suitable for kids and the general phrase at my mums and toddlers group is 'mini' which just seems odd. DD is 6 weeks old, and DSs are starting to be curious when I change her nappy as to what she has if she doesn't have the same as them.

Incidently, me and my sister had a brainstorming session and came up with 'twinkle' but when DH just heard me use it (I was changing her whilst on the phone to him) his immediate response was to tell me to ask you lot!! I think he's finally got the idea about Mumsnet

We use the term 'foof' or 'foofy' - even DH has started using it now!

We use "little flower"

susanmt · 19/12/2003 15:15

We call it a 'front bottom' - practical scots!

Loobie · 19/12/2003 15:29

i have 2 ds who have 'men' and dd has either a cookie or a flower, had to start using cookie after the boys began wondering where the colours were on their little sisters flower.

hana · 19/12/2003 17:49

she calls it her 'bum' and that's fine for now ( 2.3) and I'll probably use vagina when she's older and knows the difference between a front and back bum.

CountessDingDongDrac · 19/12/2003 19:12

My dd has a Minky (and if we have a ds it can be a winky and then they rhyme!)

Hollymaiden · 19/12/2003 19:27

As a child it was referred to in our household as a thrupenny bit. Which kindof made sense to be since urinating was spending a penny and defactating was spending tuppence. Mind you, as far as I was concerned the phrase referred to the entire area - niceties of biology being vastly unimportant. I did used to believe that diarrhea was when urine and faeces got mixted together (or pennies and tuppences, as I would have then described it). So I suppose just calling the whole area a bottom will do.

Slink · 19/12/2003 19:31

I'm the same Mummysurfer we call them "bits" too, Daddy has "bits" too

Twink · 19/12/2003 21:03

It's always been fanny here BUT after yesterday, I'm not too sure.

We were at a railway station, and dd (4) went to an empty bench, sat with legs akimbo, hands down her tights...

'dd{} please take your hands out of your tights'

'No Mummy I've got a REALLY itchy fanny'

'If it's a problem please ask me to take you to the toilet and sort it out'

'It's alright mummy, don't make a fuss, I can itch it here'

'Not in public'

'We're not in public, nobody is looking'

So if any of you saw us at the station yesterday, I'm sorry !

Loobie · 19/12/2003 21:15

PMSL at twink dd!!!!!

Dahlia · 19/12/2003 21:44

We've always used "bits" for male or female. Front bottom always makes me think of Dame Edna Everage, she always goes on about front and back bottoms.

nutcracker · 30/12/2003 14:19

We have always said bits for the dd's and sometimes for ds but also sometimes winky for ds. My dd delights in telling anyone who will listen that i called mine a dougal.
When changing ds this morning my dd said " I used to have one of those when i was a baby, didn't I ? (pointing at ds's willy). I just said no you didn't, only boys have those, you've always had the bits you've got now.

KatieMac · 30/12/2003 18:37

My DH is Jamaican and therefore (aparently)my daughter (& I) has a pum-pum, which is very confusing when she says it and anyone asks 'what's that?'

vicimelly · 30/12/2003 19:33

When I was little my mum called mine a rudy, no idea why! My daughters is a wee-wee

kittenheels · 30/12/2003 22:23

"fairy" is what we use. i did discuss the proper name "Vagina" once and left it there. However, DD said her friend calls hers "my china" which, i realised, after laughing so much i wet myself, was probably supposed to be the "Vagina" . Her mum is a nurse so maybe they use the real name in their house and DDs friend has picked it up as "my china".

handlemecarefully · 31/12/2003 09:50

I think I like the 'wee wee' suggestion. May well adopt that one

nicki1 · 31/12/2003 18:59

we say "fairy" in our house!

popsycal · 31/12/2003 19:02

nadlemecarefully - be carefull with the wee wee suggestion....myself and my sisters were told to wee wee on the potty and we named it the 'weeweepot'
yes that is what we called the 'mini/twinkle/front bottom'!!!!

mistletoes · 31/12/2003 19:06

We call it her vagina! Are we the only ones?

katierocket · 31/12/2003 19:23

mistletoes - No! see earlier in thread.

for some reason though I wimp out at calling it it's proper name - lord knows why.

we go for 'front bottom' and 'willy'

fairydust · 01/01/2004 11:00
