Not an appropriate conversation for mums in a school playground.

I don't think I'm being prudish, I like the odd gin and tonic/vodka/wine etc myself but I've never been into the 'out on the lash' culture.
For one thing, I've seen too many bad accidents due to drink in my line of work.

Anyway, conversation overheard in primary school playground this morning prior to kids going in:-

Mum A (loud voice) " How is Jan's head this morning, I bet she feels rough, I feel awful"
Mum B (just as gobby as A) " She's not good, mind you she did get absolutely hammered last night....."

By all means have a good time at the weekend, even get 'bladdered/hammered/lashed" if you want to but don't then have a conversation about it infront of my 10 year old, or other 6 to 10 year olds for that matter. What would we think of the teachers if they were talking like this infront of our kids, not much I'll bet.

Needless to say these mums are 'big' in the church community. Nuff said.

Hebiegebies · 02/07/2012 18:39

I do apologise that my conversation upset you.

Going to church does not stop me getting rather tipsy sometime. I do try to stay sober the night before taking the service though and I dont drink and drive

Sposh · 02/07/2012 18:40

I had a mum tell me in the playground of the infant school that she'd had a threesome at the weekend and 'not one after the other if you know what I mean' Wink Wink

Now that's what I call inappropriate Grin

Sirzy · 02/07/2012 18:46

What harm will your child over hearing a conversation they probably won't understand do exactly?

Perhaps you should present all the parents with a list of acceptable topics of conversation?

wannaBe · 02/07/2012 18:49

I once went out on a thursday night, got very drunk very quickly, don't remember how I got home afterwards, woke up the next morning and threw up before going on the school run, came home and went back to bed because I felt so ill. It's the first and last time I've ever been that drunk. Blush but do feel free to get a grip judge me for it.

Deadly usualsuspect.

Might have known someone would come out with the 'judgy' phrase. Yeah God forbid I should have an opinion that someone should not be saying or doing a certain thing incase I am 'judging' them.

So at your school does the headteacher smoke and drink infront of the kids at assembly. What, you wouldn't like that, tsk tsk would you judge them?

Relax, the head has a stressful job, cut her/him a bit of slack.
