Dentinox cradle cap shampoo. I used it for Dd and it worked a treat.

I'm very Envy, I hope your having lots of snuggly newborn cuddles Smile

Use dentinox and run firmly with flannel. Your child's hair will come away with the cradle cap and will resemble willie Thorne much to your amusement!

I used Olive oil and a comb

My ds screamed when we tried to use dentinoxConfused We used olive oil then circular movements with a baby brush.

Jojay · 22/06/2012 22:50

Dentinox shampoo was way too harsh for my sensitive skinned DS3.

With my older ones I used olive oil - apply about 10 mins before bath, then a good gentle rub on the bath and shampoo out.

DS3 had horrid eczema and his cradle cap used to get infected. We used hydromol ointmet - very gloopy, or hydromol bath and shower - runny like water. Use like olive oil but it rinses out with water so no need to shampoo if you don't want to.

this cleared both of my kids' up.

Challen · 23/06/2012 01:01

Nit comb gets it all out.

Oh I miss those days, having a good old pick whilst breastfeeding, kept the boredom at bay Blush

TickledOnion · 23/06/2012 07:48

I used the sunflower oil that I was given in baby massage class. Then used a soft baby hairbrush and brushed upwards against the flakes. Had to angle the brush into the flakes, but tonnes came off and they haven't come back since.
Washed out with normal baby shampoo..

lola88 · 23/06/2012 08:31

another one for dentinox here and brush babies hair every day to help the dead skin come away

CogitoErgoSometimes · 23/06/2012 14:14

Massage in a little Savlon at bedtime, rinse hair next day.

SoSoMamanBebe · 23/06/2012 14:27

When the hair is wet, just use a nit comb. Do that every night for a week and it'll all be gone. You could put oil on it to help it come off but my two youngest had it and mere post bath hair softened it enough that it lifted off.

Shutupanddrive · 23/06/2012 14:41

Olive/baby oil oh their hair 5 mins before you wash it. Then a nit comb and pick it out. I loved doing this! Smile

cherrypieplum · 23/06/2012 14:43

My niece had terrible cradle cap for months. An anti-fungal shampoo sorted it eventually.

Flisspaps · 23/06/2012 15:00

I don't. I just leave it. Doesn't seem to bother DS, it didn't bother DD, so any treatment would be for my benefit!

MrsHuxtable · 24/06/2012 14:48

Olive oil and almond oil both made it worse with DD. It would disappear after I soaked her but return the next morning twice as bad.
I didn't want to use Dentinox as it's so harsh on little babies.
I then did tons of research about cradle cap and came across the recommendation for Avene Pediatril Cradle Cap Gel. You only get it in a few places online but I think it's great.
I had to use it 3 times for the cradle cap to go but I think that was only because DD has such thick hair that whenever I tried to rub the gel on her scalp 90% got caught in her hair. The third time I meant business and slapped half the tub on her head and spend ages making sure it actually reached her skin. The cradle cap has not been back since.
She also didn't lose any of her hair with the gel.

Another vote for dentinox, and olive oil with an old soft toothbrush. Gross but satisfying!

peppapigpastahoopies · 24/06/2012 20:29

Just leave it.

You risk hurting her by trying to take it off.
It doesn't do any harm, but trying to take it off might!

beela · 24/06/2012 21:37

Dentinox here as well.

Billy11 · 26/06/2012 00:13

cradle cap cream by mustela ...you can order on amazon
mustela is for sensitive skin and skin with ecczema...its amazingly good...my doc perscribed it when my dd was a baby

bobbledunk · 27/06/2012 15:51

Leave baby oil on her head for about 20 mins and wipe off with a baby wipe, then wash hair massaging scalp well.

RiskItForABiscuit · 28/06/2012 11:16

Can I ask those of you who left it, when did it finally go away? DD is 2.5 years old and it's still there. Needless to say, she'd never let me at it now. It doesn't bother her and I'm the only one who knows it is under her mop, so just a curiosity question.

DD2's (6m) has just come back so I'm picking at it and brushing it out.

mac12 · 28/06/2012 22:31

Riskit, we left it on my DS1 (DD never had it, we olive oiled her from the start) and he's 3.5 now and it's all gone - i only know this because he recently had a shorter than usual hair cut and i spotted a couple of flakes - gave them a quick pick and it was all gone.

barleysugar · 28/06/2012 22:35

Nizoral shampoo.

RillaBlythe · 28/06/2012 22:43

Another one who left it. Once they grow enough hair you can't see it... Dd1 age 4 doesn't have it anymore (i checked out of curiousity the other day)
