Don't really think it's bad? Couldn't be bothered myself, but why not, if the house is warm?

goldstarlover · 24/02/2006 22:42

haha i shall remember that! although couldn;t be bothered with dressing/undressing!

i do wait til after breakfast to dress ds though

MerlinsBeard · 24/02/2006 22:43

i couldn't be bothered myself, and surely, clothes wash so whats the prob, i wait till dd has had brekkie before dressing for the day but I thought everyone did that.........but not for every meal

I used to take ds's top off to feed him, then wipe him, and put his top back on. I do have a washing machine but why create work?

goldstarlover · 24/02/2006 22:46

it is much easier to just put a bib on surely?
but come summer ds will be having everything naked! lol

MerlinsBeard · 24/02/2006 22:47

wonder if i am the only one who uses bibs?!

This is a very strange concept to me!

trinityrocks · 24/02/2006 22:49

I kid you not she also doesn't want hos bibs getting stained 'cause they match his outfits'
honestly I couldn't childmind for this woman.......And on a different point she is only paying £40 for 5 days a week, 8 hours a day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

OP posts:
MerlinsBeard · 24/02/2006 22:49

ROFL @ matching bibs to outfits! her first then?!

jowen · 24/02/2006 22:55

Oh I see, she wants him to look smart as opposed to get him wearing the same top the next day! (which is why I used to do it)

tillykins · 24/02/2006 22:56

thats £40 for 40 hours....???

Caligula · 24/02/2006 23:27

Plastic wipeable bibs.

Kelly1978 · 25/02/2006 00:47

mine play with bibs and spread the food everywhere do I don't bother and try to feed them in vests if poss. It's essential for us, clothes may wash but stains might not come out.

starlover · 25/02/2006 00:49

i have those big bibs with arms on for ds! lol

Kelly1978 · 25/02/2006 00:51

I didn't like them - too fiddly! plus the ones that i bought must have had stick men in mind, the arms were so skinny!

starlover · 25/02/2006 00:51

lol! mine are mothercare ones... they're a bit fiddly, but much easier than taking ds's clothes off...
he HATES gettting dressed/undressed! lol

Chandra · 25/02/2006 01:19

Taking the baby's clothes off?? I might be lazy but I find it easier to put the clothes in the washing machine than to remove all the mess from DS!

izzybiz · 25/02/2006 11:06

my Dd always got in more mess with a bib. pulling at it and trying to get it off. i always take her top off when she has her dinner, because alot of stains are hard to get out.

misdee · 25/02/2006 11:08

if only icould take dd3 hair off to feed her. that gets more food on/in it than her clothes do.

Elibean · 25/02/2006 11:09

One of my friends just used to change her dd's t-shirt for meals (to a stained one) then change her back. Because she wouldn't keep bibs on.
My own dd is fine with bibs, though now she's older I tend to tie an old muslin round her neck and tell her she's a cowboy...

Dottydot · 25/02/2006 15:20

I seem to remember doing that with ds2 when he was younger - we'd put his bib on him but honestly I have never seen such a messy eater! It would go everywhere - he's MUCH messier than ds1...

cupcakes · 25/02/2006 15:24

I remember reading this in a baby manual when ds was a baby. The argument being skin is much easier to clean than a white baby suit...
if it's warm, why not?

CarolinaMoon · 25/02/2006 15:30

I did this with ds in the summer. It's hardly an effort to take a top off and put it on again is it? He tends to pull his bibs off so it's less hassle that way.

At this time of year, I just put up with a messy top (but tbh I don't give him v sloppy food, so it's not that bad).

jac34 · 25/02/2006 15:37

DH's family are Italian and when the DS's were small MIL used to always cook them spaghetti(rather than penne, or macaroni), well there was tomato sause EVERYWHERE.So I started stripping them off to eat at her house,as the stains just wouldn't come out.
She actually said to me one day,"Oh,I never used to be able to get the stains out when mine were small,"
However,I have since found a easy way to remove them.and suprised even my MIL.

jessicaandrebeccasmummy · 25/02/2006 15:46

my friend used to do this.... drove me insane!

We dont get Jess dressed until she has had breakfast, she wont keep a bib on now (19 months) but if it gets dirty oh well! If it somethign like spag bol that is likely to stain, we just soak her top or whatever in vanish oxyaction before chucking it in the washing machine!
