I couldn't believe that my partner and I had created such a beautiful, perfect baby girl! I was so overwhelmed and shocked that I had actually been carrying her for 9 months and started crying!

Vondo that has brought tears to my eyes. Thanks

Wiggy29 · 24/04/2012 11:15

Thank God it's out
Oh God it's purple...
Thank God it's a fine!

I think I only really registered the event fully a few weeks later where I just sat and cried (in a good way) totally unprovoked, up until then it was all a flurry of caring for him and dealing with my nasty infected stitches!

DD on resus table having her mouth hoovered out. Me: why isn't she breathing? DSM; don't worry, she will be in a minute. Me (out of in my head); I'm not worried, it's not my baby.

DS- sigh, oh God he's crying, I need to feed him.
This would mean turning off the heat lamps above me although my teeth were still chattering. (Body in shock post birth with both DCs)

Childbirth clearly turns me briefly into a selfish cow Blush

Such an emotional thread. ((hugs)) to all those who didn't get long with their LOs.

Where's the baby? - it had been a long, long labour and I was so high on various medication that I just didn't believe that anything so small could be a real baby Blush

Followed by...

It's a boy!
He's WHITE!
and BLONDE!
and he's got BLUE EYES!
How the heck did that happen?!

(DH is mixed race, I am not blonde nor do I have blue eyes).

feetheart · 24/04/2012 12:49

DD - She's so heavy, she's red in the face, she's screaming, she's looking at me out of one eye, her chin is wobbling, God she's cross, she's all sticky, that's poo up my arm. My God she's beautiful :)

DS - Wow, a boy. Isn't he quiet. Hello baby.

dinkystinkyandveryverybored · 24/04/2012 12:53

DS1 - please breathe, please breathe - ah he's breathing. Now he's screaming. Shit, what have I let myself in for?

DS2 - wow, he's here.God he looks rather scrunched up.

Justfeckingdoit · 24/04/2012 15:27

DC1 - Hair!!! So much DARK hair!!!
DC2 - So big, so beautiful, so BLUE!!!

BlueberryPancake · 25/04/2012 10:14

I could only see his foot as he was taken to a special table to be looked over he wasn't breathing straight away and I kept on looking at his foot thinking please cry please cry and he did.

Then when I saw him I said 'he's perfect' and I cried loads.

For second baby, he actually cried before he was born!!! I knwo it's hard to believe but its true, I had an emergency section, and he started crying when his head was out and his body still inside my tummy everyone in the room was laughing it was the first time they'd ever seen that happen! so there was no worry about him not breathing!!!

My husband said 'I am peased to say that Matthew has a little brother' and i said 'he's gorgeous' and burst into tears obviously. The truth is he was not gorgeous, he was one of the ugliest babies I'd ever seen!!!

DawnOfTheDee · 25/04/2012 10:32

I had a EMCS so heard DD for a few mins before i saw her. First thought was 'Oooh! She sounds like a cat!

Then I saw her and cried - she was lovely and pink and perfect!

Then I thought - I seem to have given birth to an 8 week old baby (she was 10lb 10z).

ds "I'm supposed to feel something and I don't"

dd "nope, still don't feel anything".

margoandjerry · 25/04/2012 13:42

DD: "thank god" - that we are both alive and you appear to be fine. Then "when can I have a cup of tea".

DS: "thank god and gosh those are rather large testicles" Grin

tabulahrasa · 25/04/2012 13:49

DS I actually did Shock Hmm at, lol, he (still) looks very like DP and he had his confused expression on as well...that is his expression when he's confused, not that he's permanently confused looking.

DD, where did that baby come from, I haven't pushed yet, that can't be my one

ToastofWar · 25/04/2012 14:09

BlueberryPancake, my DS2 did the same. As I was pushing him out, he was half way out, arms out, screaming Hmm.

I looked at him and thought 'Just like DS1, but more square-shaped'.

DS1 - 'Great. A boy. Where's his top lip?' (He had been sucking it in)

DS3 - 'Ahh. He looks like Gollum'

Mealiepudding · 25/04/2012 14:13

DC1 - She looks just like my gran and I'm glad that's all over. I don't want to ever let her out of my sight - I couldn't believe the rush of love.

DC2 - I can't believe it - I've had a boy (thought I was having a girl) and he's big! and I could just get up now and go home and do it all again tomorrow.

DC3 - Oh god, could someone please take her away and give me some sleep? And she is so beautiful, what must the midwives think - they can't ever have seen such a beautiful baby before Grin

Mishy1234 · 25/04/2012 14:22

DC1 - thank God, I've finally done it! (after 8 years ttc, it seemed I had achieved the impossible.) He looks just like my Dad.

DC2 - he looks so different from DC1. Wow, how will I manage with two...

PowderPuffAndCurlyWhiskers · 25/04/2012 16:22

"WTAF is that smell?!" - she smelt so... urgh! Couldn't wait to wash her!

My first words were, as I was on all fours having just pushed her out... "IS SHE PRETTY?!", the whole room went silent and then everyone laughed.

My sister is a horribly honest person, and said to me all through my pregnancy that if it was an ugly baby, she'd tell me. So those were my first words. DH now has them tattooed in little quote marks, with the time/date DD was born and it still makes us both giggle whenever we see it.
