Sick dd and aoft play - wwyd?

12mo DD was sick at nursery yesterday so I had to collect her early - mid afternoon. Obviously the 48 hr rule applies so I will have her for the next 2 days at home - am thinking that if she feels better today (which I think she will as she was fine yesterday when we got home) she's going to be bored stupid by tomorrow and I could do with taking her out somewhere.

Would you take your DC out somewhere (using soft play as an eg) or do you stick out the full 48hrs at home in the interest of not spreading germs.

Be truthful!

Not to soft play where loads of kids will be

I'd go to the park or for a walk where there's no close proximity to others

OddBoots · 17/01/2012 07:25

Absolutely not to soft play, an enclosed space with lots of children is the most likely way of passing anything on.

Try putting some music on and jigging around in the living room instead or if you really have to then a trip to the park.

Go for a walk or something not so somewhere where there will be lots of children.

SoupDragOn · 17/01/2012 07:29

Definitely not to soft play.

Oneofthechildlessones · 17/01/2012 07:30

No soft play

Gumby · 17/01/2012 07:35

12 months is fine to stay indoors for a few days
Bet they don't get much out of sp anyway so they?

peggyblackett · 17/01/2012 07:37

Definitely not soft play - they are germ infested pits at the best of times.

leftmymistletoeatthedoor · 17/01/2012 07:39

She's only 12 months. She doesn't need much to be entertained.

Definitely no to soft play. Yes if you had to nip to the shops or yes to a walk / maybe the park.

She might benefit from a rest anyways if she's not been well.

brandysoakedbitch · 17/01/2012 07:42

Why would you take her to a place with lots of other children? Ridiculous

LadyGahGah · 17/01/2012 07:42

I agree...12 months can stay indoors with you, or trip to nearby park. As they get older being cooped up does annoy them..DS is the worst and he is almost 5 and bouncy. But if he is sick, I do the 48 hour thing. Don't want to pass it on Smile

Blimey my 12 month old couldn't stay in the house for more than an hour.

Sirzy · 17/01/2012 09:10

I find that very hard to believe rilla. Entertaing a 1 year old at home isn't that hard!

Gumby · 17/01/2012 09:13

Blimey my 12 month old couldn't stay in the house for more than an hour.

Why on earth not?!! Is it because you have to watch them and prefer them to be strapped in a pushchair?!!

BandOMothers · 17/01/2012 09:13

Same her Rilla most 12 month old babies don't get a say!

RillaBlythe · 17/01/2012 09:14

Err Sirzy, don't know why you'd doubt my experience of my 12 month old! She was extremely high energy & honestly could not be entertained in the house. now she's 3 however she loves nothing more than a day with glitter in front of cbeebies so there's hope for us all

Anyway OP I think park/open air Playground would be fine.

Don't do soft play. I think if you read the rules of the soft play, they'd probably be the same as nursery re vomiting.

RillaBlythe · 17/01/2012 09:16

Surprised by reaction. No Gumby, it's not because I prefer not to watch my children Hmm I was just surprised at the consensus that 12 month olds don't need to go out. My experience was different.

RillaBlythe · 17/01/2012 09:17

Maryz - we did. But then we lived in a tiny flat so maybe of you live in houses with gardens your experience would be different.

My DD couldn't have stayed at home all day at 12 months either. She has always needed a change of scene, even if only a walk down the road. And she loved soft play at that age.

Agree with the others though- no to soft play until after 48 hours. Go for a run in the park.

(RillaBlythe can I just say I love your username, that used to be my favourite book- it still gets a re-read occasionally!)

RillaBlythe · 17/01/2012 09:25

Ah & we've always lived v near a park.

Thinking about this thread, I'm pretty sure there's a sign up at our soft play about illness.

off to tighten the baby's pushchair straps & give her a fruit shoot

RillaBlythe · 17/01/2012 09:26

Thanks Pozzled. Re read it recently!

(sorry for all the posts - phone)

banana87 · 17/01/2012 09:26

No way to soft play. Am slightly concerned you're even considering it Sad
