Sick dd and aoft play - wwyd?

12mo DD was sick at nursery yesterday so I had to collect her early - mid afternoon. Obviously the 48 hr rule applies so I will have her for the next 2 days at home - am thinking that if she feels better today (which I think she will as she was fine yesterday when we got home) she's going to be bored stupid by tomorrow and I could do with taking her out somewhere.

Would you take your DC out somewhere (using soft play as an eg) or do you stick out the full 48hrs at home in the interest of not spreading germs.

Be truthful!

I would say no as well. But interestingly, DS2's school changed their sickness policy at the start of last term. They now only say you have to be off for 24hrs after the last bout. The cynic in me thinks it may have something to do with OFSTED and keeping their attendance rates above 95%...

Isnt it good for kids to mix with germs etc - good for their immune system? Some people seem very alarmist on this thread!

No way to soft play. Am slightly concerned you're even considering it

Lol!

You can't avoid mixing with germs that happens day to day. However that doesn't mean you should take an ill child somewhere with lots of other children and deliberatly expose them to an illness.

Thanks everyone, think I would have reconsidered soft play anyway (honest) on thinking a bit more about it! Playground and swings it is, I fecking hate soft play places anyway - vile!

Soft play gets a no from me, mainly because I couldn't bear the embarrassment of she was sick in the ball pool!! No really, you don't want to pass germs on and her immune system will be low so could pick anything up!

Wow, so do some people actually have 12month olds that are happy without being entertained? My daughter (now 15months) gets cabin fever and we have to go out or have people here every day really!

Gumby what a ridiculous thing to say, the same as asking you why you find it easier to stay at home, is it because you can't be bothered and are too lazy to take your children anywhere? I'm sure that's not true of course...

To be entertained though you don't have to go out of the house. It is pretty useful for children to learn that some days will be spent playing in the house and not to expect an entertaining trip out everyday!

Of course I wouldn't take a child out who was feeling unwell. But the premise of the OP was a child who was feeling fine.

You can try homemade soft play take all your duvets, cushions and pillows then put them on the floor in the lounge. You have to join in this one to make it fun though...
