DH and I are sitting here racking our brains what we can do tomorrow. The kids have been in for days on end. The weather is cold and crap (wet here not snowy). There are beginning to go stir crazy and so are we. Money is very tight and we don't know what to do or where to go.

The kids are boy of nearly 9 years, girl of 5 1/2 years and baby.

Any ideas?

Godstone Farm is open tomorrow, NYE is a normal working day mostly.

We so often went to out local NT park which had the aquarium in the garden centre, then had cakes in th tea room. Lovely way to pass an afternoon.

Or go to an Early Learning Centre and play with all their toys? Bit stressful with more than one child though.

Sorry, didn't like the bowling idea. Our local bowling alley still allows smoking (hate smoke near babies) plus baby is crawliing and will not be happy just to sit and watch and DD2 is a TERRIBLE loser and will throw a major paddy when her big brother beats her!!!!

So far, the cold trudge through a wood of some kind near a park is winning followed by some hot chocolate.

I know it is cold but can you not just go over to virginia waters or box hill with a ball and a little picnic and do a kind of treasure hunt or something. That way it costs nothing.

Daisies in a line. I am in Carshalton.

How about Bockets or Godstone farm? Both have huge outdoor play areas.

If the weather is ok you could always go and visit the dinosaurs at Crystal Palace. Always a hit with mine and very cheap too!

If you fancy a bike ride how about going to Nonsuch park?

daisiesinaline · 30/12/2005 22:24

or the aquarium .... mmm... now in a dilemma! which one to choose? So many good ideas! You lot are fab!

how about the park but take bikes/roller skates/trikes or whatever. Wellys for jumping in puddles and bread to feed the ducks, the ones at our local park were starving the other day, almost had our hands off!

handlemecarefully · 30/12/2005 22:24

singsywife - I didn't think it was a crap idea. Can't pretend to feel thrilled at the nutritional value of Mcdonalds, but have to admit that my children love an occasional visit there

Mincepiedermama · 30/12/2005 22:24

There's a hole in the market for fun and affordable indoor activities for kids which don't involve soft play areas isn't there. If only I had more time or a creative bone in my tired body I might try to fill that hole.

Ooer missus! Why does everything I say sound fruity today. It must be all the norty threads.

Hi Blossomhill. Oooo, you are quite close to me! Nonsuch is a good idea. Do you think the tea/cake shop will be open?

BH - dinosaurs in Crystal Palace is a FAB idea. Mine love it there and it has a good playground.

I was soooo happy when dh did a mystery tour for us there one day last year as I loved Topsy & Tim's Meet The Monsters book. So does dd.

Blossomhill · 30/12/2005 22:29

DIAL - I don't know tbh but it was when I went in October half term. It is a good hour or so walking/riding round though and hopefully if coffee shop is open then another half hour, perfect

singyswife · 30/12/2005 22:29

Mincepie, I know you didnt think it was crap. Mine only visit there occasionally too. Dont think it would be a good idea with a baby though. I didnt think about taht.

Blossomhill · 30/12/2005 22:30

Dinny - even better if the farm is open but I am not sure if it is yet.

I love Battersea park too, it is beautiful!

dinny · 30/12/2005 22:30

and there's that nice playground beside Nonsuch in Cheam Park (?)

singyswife · 30/12/2005 22:31

What about a train trip somewhere. I once took my kids on a train just to go to a cafe get some food and then come home again. Took up a few hours and they really enjoyed it. Made it even better as we got off the train before the conductor came round. Cheap day out!!!

daisiesinaline · 30/12/2005 22:32

Oh yes, the one with the sand pit.

Blossomhill · 30/12/2005 22:33
