We need to get the kids out tomorrow. HELP

DH and I are sitting here racking our brains what we can do tomorrow. The kids have been in for days on end. The weather is cold and crap (wet here not snowy). There are beginning to go stir crazy and so are we. Money is very tight and we don't know what to do or where to go.

The kids are boy of nearly 9 years, girl of 5 1/2 years and baby.

Any ideas?

swimming?

myrrhthamoo · 30/12/2005 22:04

I had a bad day in today - it's rained all day, kids and I were going stir crazy. A lot of places are shut at the moment so it's difficult. Wrap up warm, put on wellies and go to the park? We went to the forest and tramped about in the snow on Wednesday - it was freezing but it was great to get out of the house.

where are you?

We wrapped up warm and went to a local park the other day. Th only thing the kids could go on was the flying fox but they loved it and we all had a good time. Make something special when you come home too like hot chocolate with marshmallows in. It just extends the fun and is something different.

We have also, fairly recently had a 'carpet' picnic. My kids love doing that especially if you invite a friend round for each of them.

Epsom in Surrey.

Baby has a cold so don't really want to do swimming.

how about Horton Farm? can do the indoor bits if bad weather...?

daisiesinaline · 30/12/2005 22:09

DS1 is "bored with parks' he says in his pre-teenage grumpy voice!!!!!! although to me that sounds like an attractive idea.

I'd go for swimming too. If baby has a cold I would sit in the cafe with the baby (it's not like baby gives a damn! ) whilst dh takes the older two children into the pool.

There is a farm near chessington world of adventures. I can't think of the name... if it gets too cold it has an indoor play area too for the older ones and a small play bit for the baby. I think it begins with B.

daisiesinaline · 30/12/2005 22:10

Oh, farm. Dinny where are you? How do you know about Horton Farm. Just literally down the road to us. Now thats not such a bad idea.

Do you have a free museum near you?

myrrhthamoo · 30/12/2005 22:11

Aha, but I have a nearly 9 year old boy too and though he says he's bored with the park he seems to like it when we get there

Salsa · 30/12/2005 22:11

Is the ice skating rink still open in richmond?

daisiesinaline · 30/12/2005 22:11

Do you think the farm will be busy? Hate crowded places full of screaming kids.

Is it hortons that I am talking about near chessington?

daisiesinaline · 30/12/2005 22:13

Ice skating!! I love ice skating but impossibility with 2 adults and 3 non skating kids (one of which is a baby). Also DH hates ice skating! Maybe I could go on my own!

Daisiesinaline, used to visit Horton Farm a lot when we lived in S London. Now we are nearer Godstone Farm so go there. I got dd a season ticket which is excellent value if you live nearby - basically works out at two visits a month. We go LOADS, even if shit weather just to go in the playbarn.

Another idea - find a garden centre with an aquarium (there is one is Morden but prob bit too far for you) and enjoy some free entertainment for the sprogs.

dinny · 30/12/2005 22:15

doubt it will be really hectic if the weather's bad.

daisiesinaline · 30/12/2005 22:16

We have a good garden centre with an aquarium near us too with a tea shop. You are brill. DH quite likes the farm idea. Any others - like to keep my options open!

We went to a soft play area today and it was living hell. Absolutely mobbed. Furious parents elbowing for space outside the enclosure and Lord of Flies inside.

singyswife · 30/12/2005 22:16

With it being New Years Eve you better check a farm will be open. Sorry!!!!!! What about a game of bowling and a MC D's

daisiesinaline · 30/12/2005 22:17

Good point. Forgot it was New Years Eve.

Mincepiedermama · 30/12/2005 22:18

Bowling. What a fab idea.

Mincepiedermama · 30/12/2005 22:18

McDs is a crap idea though if I may say so.

singyswife · 30/12/2005 22:19

Okay so MCD's is crap. Is 1020pm and brain is shutting down.
