Ideas please!
Number 1 is just about OK, but how about number 2-s???
An awkward experience for both participants, to say the least!!!!!!!!!!
Sorry for the stinky topic!

Take them with you if needed. Look on in horror as they cover themselves in squirty soap and try to ignore their constant questions of 'Oh mummy, you trumped! Are you having a poo?'

Or if a bit older, stick Cbeebies on and slope off for a poo in peace.

CharlotteBronteSaurus · 26/08/2011 19:35

take with. we have an enticing basket of bathroom-only toys for distraction while mummy does what is necessary.

and you learn either to be quick, or save the luxury, 10 mins with Closer! magazine poos for when your dp is around.

ginmakesitallok · 26/08/2011 19:36

Make sure stair gate is shut, make sure door to DD1s bedroom is shut, make sure door to main bathroom is shut, make sure toddler is upstairs, go for poo. How much damage can they do in the time it takes to poo?? On second thoughts don't answer that!!

I just leave the door open and they come and go as they please.

pookamoo · 26/08/2011 19:39

Usually make conversation... Grin

I am guessing these are not the answers the OP was looking for! I read on here somewhere that "one gives up the rights to solitary toilet time when one becomes a parent!"

Wishiwasarestaurantcritic · 26/08/2011 19:39

I have my poo time down to a personal best! Often helped by small person telling me how smelly it is on a 1 to 10 scale and shouting 'ha ha mummy trumped' and cackling manically....have left my dignity in a small bag by the door and hope to pick it back up again in 18 years Smile

mrsravelstein · 26/08/2011 19:42

my oldest is 10 and he still seems to feel free to wander in for a chat when i'm in the bloody toilet...

Carrotsandcelery · 26/08/2011 19:42

Mine are 6 and 10 now and it would not be at all unusual for everyone to wander in while I am "enthroned" even now. The dog also comes for a pet while I am in there. They are all genuinely shocked if I lock the door Shock

mousesma · 26/08/2011 19:43

I just take mine in with me. Private poo times are unfortunately limited to nap times or when daddy is home :)

GwendolineMaryLacey · 26/08/2011 19:44

I always found that DD when younger was more than willing to stand at the back of the toilet examining my arse crack while I did what I needed to do. At 3.7 she's less interested now, thankfully but she does sometimes wander in and ask and I doing a wee, only to then say, "noooo, you doing poo poo" Blush

Carrotsandcelery · 26/08/2011 19:45

I should have pointed out that I am a vegetarian so, fortunately, it is never a lengthy ordeal experience Blush

babycham42 · 26/08/2011 19:53

It"s getting back into the habit of closing the loo door which is hard!

RitaMorgan · 26/08/2011 19:56

I just leave the door open.

Firawla · 26/08/2011 20:02

I just leave them to play by themselves in their room or in the living room, wouldn't really occur to me to take them in with me tbh. If your home is babyproofed and safe for them then they should be fine to be left, you're not exactly gonna be in there all day?? My bathroom is really small so would not be easy to fit a couple of toddlers in there with me anyway and plus I rather go to the toilet in peace so don't want them getting to the habit of thinking its their right and the norm for them to come in

OddBoots · 26/08/2011 20:06

Mine are older now but at toddler age I put them in their cot with some toys and chatted to them as required - likewise when I was in the shower.

pacsirta · 26/08/2011 20:36

Thanks! Some great comments, you lot are not shy, are yoU!
I was thinking along the same lines, yes she does come in with me at the mo, but I'd rather she didn't. Never mind.
I like the 'treasure basket' idea, I'm going off to put one together NOW!

Yes, just leave the door open! Apart from anything else it supposedly makes potty-learning easier if they see you doing it all the time.

MissMarjoribanks · 26/08/2011 21:04

I take mine with me and talk to him. I'm not bothered at all. Unfortunately, for some reason, he is horrified by the whole experience and keeps trying to tug my trousers back up. Confused

MmeLindor. · 26/08/2011 21:08

Left door ajar and put toddler in cot/playpen.

They now know to leave me in peace. In fact, when MIL phoned recently she was rather amused to be told, "Mum is in the loo and she doesn't like to be disturbed".

CurlyCasper · 26/08/2011 21:14

We share morning poo time- she sits on the potty while I sit on the loo. Then we brush our teeth simultaneously. I also have a basket of toys in the bathroom. She plays with them while I shower, or stands with her hands of the edge of the bath and watches me getting washed.

Other times I leave her playing in the front room (yes, with Cbeebies on) and pop up and get on with it myself.

I also get visits from the dog, who sees it as an ideal time to get a stroke while not being molested by a toddler.

AngelDog · 26/08/2011 23:00

19 m.o. DS chats / plays / shouts because he wants to press the flush button, and occasionally tries to inspect between my legs like I check between his when he's on the potty. Hmm If I leave him downstairs he gets cross because he wants to join in.

I agree it's hard to remember to close the door when we have visitors.

MoonFaceMamaaaaargh · 27/08/2011 05:18

firwla some toddlers are impossible to baby proof for. My ds would be on the dining table/window sill/sideboard/tv. He moves furniture and toys to climb things. He's 18m so does not yet understand the dangers. I can not poo without him...i'd be too tense worrying about what he was scaling now. I've decided it's easier to take him with me than to get she of all the furniture.

MoonFaceMamaaaaargh · 27/08/2011 05:21

rid not she!

mumblecrumble · 27/08/2011 05:45

Does she stillm have a cot? I used to pop DD in cot if I had to go for age.... Now we chat.... usually about death, babies and front bottoms.

TheOriginalFAB · 27/08/2011 06:34

You should be sorry! You have put me right off my breakfast.

It was talking about no 2's that did it as I read your no 1 is okay as child number 1...
