Purleeease help me!!!
I have just managed to finish my Music assignment for my degree but there is one part still outstanding. I need to give an example of a song (pop, classical anything on a cd)which i could use in a classroom to demonstrate different musical elements. For example i have used The lion sleeps tonight as an example of pitch - (all the humba ways and oooeee'ss!!!!)which was kindly donated by my 4 yr old dd! As for the rest, im lost! I have searched my cd's and dd's but cant seem to get to grips with any examples - could anyone help? It would be much appreciated!!

would ravels bolero demonstrate change of tempo?

Or am I completely the wrong track?

Nixz · 06/11/2005 22:14

Pitch
Tempo

Whats Texture? explain it to me

katymac · 06/11/2005 22:20

timbre?

Is dynamics the movement? Like a song that sounds like the words (rollercoaster or I am sailing?)

Nixz · 06/11/2005 22:23

Texture is lots if different layers eg - when we sing and do rounds, like londons burning and then after we have sung the first line, another groups starts - does that make sense? Sorry if it doesnt but ive been in the books all day, as well as everything lse!!!!!

OP posts:
Nixz · 06/11/2005 22:24

timbre - basically being able to recognise an instrument or specific sound etc

OP posts:
katymac · 06/11/2005 22:24

Texture something like Orrinocco flow from enya
Or something by the 3 tenors? or Barcelona (Freddie mercury and montserrat Cabaya (sp))

Yorkiegirl · 06/11/2005 22:25

Message withdrawn

katymac · 06/11/2005 22:26

timbre would the the Peter and the Wolf thing (can't remember the composer - but each animal had a different instrument played that animals tune - eg peter was a XXX, wolf was a YYY, bird was a ZZZ etc - could it have benn prochociev (sp))

Nixz · 06/11/2005 22:26

I think dynamics is just loud, quiet etc
duration the length of sounds or rhythm etc

OP posts:
katymac · 06/11/2005 22:27

Prokofiev

katymac · 06/11/2005 22:27

I did duration at 10:16....

katymac · 06/11/2005 22:28

Let me go...let me go I will not let you go

Don't know what it's called - but that could be dynamics?

katymac · 06/11/2005 22:29

Bohemian Rasphody..that's it

Nixz · 06/11/2005 22:30
