How old were your DCs when they first spent a night away from you?

Just wondering.
DD is 14mo and DH wants us to have a night to ourselves/away. I'm not sure I'm ready for that, even though I know she'd be well looked after by my mum or MIL.
How did your DCs handle it?

they've never.... they're 6,4 and 2 Blush

my mother minded dd in our home when she was 18 months and i was having ds1 but dp got home around 2am, same when ds2 was born, my mom came to ours in the morning and dp was back that evening.

My parents are keen to have the older two overnight this summer though, ds2 is way to clingy though (and still bf-ing) so it'll just be dd and ds1.

dp is thinking of taking dd and maybe ds1 to visit his parents over the summer too but again, he'll be with them and ds2 will be left with me.

A night away is still a distant dream... dp and I haven't even been able to go out together for an evening since before ds2 was born as he's so difficult Sad

Went on holiday with my DH for 5 nights when DC1 was 4 months old. My mum had him. I had PND and was exhausted. The break did me the power of good and baby was fine.

Went out for a whole night with girlfriends and slept at a friend's house when DD was 5 months old. DH had the kids.

DS was 5 months. My friend looked after him while me and DP went to Rome.

DD1 was 2. But she was with DP. She hasn't been away from both of us yet.

DD2 is 12 months and she hasn't been away from me as I'm still BF plus there hasn't been the need.

DS was 6 months, stayed overnight with my parents for my birthday. It was lovely to have the break and didn't disrupt breastfeeding.

Ds was 2 - went to stay with the inlaws for four nights

dd was six months - was for a night at inlaws while me and dh went fir a meal and to a hotel nearby but Blush I made dh drive back to put her to bed and come back again
in my defence she was very hard to settle and I knew I wouldn't relax until I knew she was asleep in bed Blush poor dh!!

ds was 4 days old.he had to go back into hospital for a week and i spent only 2 nights with him in that time( the hospital staff sent me home to sleep and said i was more use if i had sleep.) he was then almost 2 when i was in hospital having ds2 when he stayed at home with dh or gps(6 nights). apart from that have had only 8 nights away from him. ds is 7
ds spent most of first 6 months in hospital( heart problems). apart from hospital visits( he has had lots) i have only had 5 nights away from him ds is 5

Blush I forgot about that.... ds2 had two nights in SCBU without me in the hospital once I was discharged. I stayed til 11/12 at night and came back before rounds in the morning 7.30/8 but he was without me for those two nights.

I can't believe i forgot that!

DD has just spent her first night away from home and she's 21 months. It happend quite by accident--just as we were getting her ready for bed I found I was bleeding (11 weeks pg) so I wanted to go to a&e (baby seems ok for now). So we rang mum and dropped her over. We got home about half past 1 and mum told us to get some sleep and get DD in the morning. In spite of me saying "we must be there at 7 when she wakes up" we slept in til 9 and picked DD up about half past 10. She was fine, mum was fine, we were fine. We're already planning for DD to spend another night at mums sometime soon due to the resounding success! Grin
