Hi KS. Yes it is! It's lovely because each line is sung and then repeated so the little ones can copy you, they don't need to remember all the words. We also like "Green and Yella" which we used to sing when I was a girl guide.

Cause I'm sad to say, I'm on my way,
wont be back for many a day,
my heart is down, my head is spinning around,
I had to leave a litle girl in Kingston Town...

Ks are you my sister??

ks, I think you may need a copy of HMV's Children's Classics (mid price compilation) urgently! It's got Puff the Magic Dragon, I'm a Gnu, Mud, mud, glorious mud (The Hippopotamus Song), Teddy Bear's Picnic, Jake the Peg, etc. NO Marianina, Down Kingstown Way...or Kalinka on, though. BBC, do you copy? Women out there need a Singing Together CD/songbook!

sml

Have asked around at work and can now finish that bit you started

I also had a pretty girl
Shes not with me today
they all the same those pretty girls -
They spread their wings and they fly away.

But cant find anyone else who knows the next verse.

jasper · 23/04/2002 02:33

Ks - Words to Marianina, verses 2 and 3 as remembered by a friend of mine.

Oer the fields she passes to and fro,
By the cornstalks standing row on row
Poppies whisper as they see her go,
Marianina come again
Whether would your footsteps wend
Come and teach us how to bend.
Marianina, Marianina,
Come O come and teach us how to bend.

O'er the mountains when the day is done
When the clouds are gathering one by one
(something something) little darling one
Marianina come again
We have tried to dance in vain
Come and turn us into rain
Marianina Marianina
Come o come and turn us into rain.

Sound familiar? Can you fill in the missing words?

Does anyone know where I can find the words to the Winnie the Pooh tune (if there are any)? I've tried several websites but cannot find them. Thanks.

Cazhass · 09/05/2002 21:25

Lollypop - I've just managed to find half (torn I'm afraid!!) Winnie book - song goes something like this:

Winnie the Pooh, Winnie the Pooh
Chubby little cubby all stuffed with fluff
he's Winnie the Pooh, Winnie the Pooh
willy nilly silly old bear

A donkey named Eeyore is his friend
and Kanga an little Roo (oooooo)
There's rabbit and Piglet and there's owl
But most of all Winnie the Pooh

da, da, da, da, da, now repeat first verse

Were else do you get this kind of service!!
Now can anyone help with my ironing???

Candy, these are the words for Gilly Gilly oxenpepper, except it's 'Ossenfeffer'. It was a hit for Max Bygraves. I found it at www.worldofyak.com/flops/flops.cgi?page=lyrics&for=gilly-gilly
You even get the spoken parts too!

Ah, good morning kidlets, I'm going to tell you a story in song about what happened in Gilly Gilly Ossenfeffer Katzenellen Bogen By The Sea.

There's a tiny house (there's a tiny house)
By a tiny stream (by a tiny stream),
Where a lovely lass (where a lovely lass)
Had a lovely dream (had a lovely dream),
And her dream came true (and her dream came true)
Quite unexpectedly
In Gilly Gilly Ossenfeffer Katzenellen Bogen By The Sea.

She was out one day (she was out one day)
Where the tulips grow (where the tulips grow),
When a handsome lad (when a handsome lad)
Stopped to say hello (stopped to say hello),
And before she knew (and before she knew)
He kissed her tenderly,
In Gilly Gilly Ossenfeffer Katzenellen Bogen By The Sea.

The happy pair were married one Sunday afternoon,
They left the church and ran away to spend their honeymoon:

In a tiny house (in a tiny house)
By a tiny stream (by a tiny stream),
Where the lovely lass (where the lovely lass)
Had a lovely dream (had a lovely dream).
And the last I heard (and the last I heard),
They still lived happily
In Gilly Gilly Ossenfeffer Katzenellen Bogen By The Sea,
In Gilly Gilly Ossenfeffer Katzenellen Bogen By The Sea.

Max: So now you've heard the story of how it all begun,
Boy: I think I'd like to go there,
Max: That's a good idea,
All: Son!

Sing it very soft (sing it very soft),
Pianissimo (pianissimo),
LIke a little bird (like a little bird),
Walking in the snow (walking in the snow):
That was very nice (that was very nice),
Now sing it merrily,
It's Gilly Gilly Ossenfeffer Katzenellen Bogen By The Sea,
(Sshh) In Gilly Gilly Ossenfeffer Katzenellen Bogen By The Sea,
In Gilly Gilly Ossenfeffer Katzenellen Bogen By The Sea!

Oh Ks I love 'right said fred'! Glad to have helped

Lizzer · 10/05/2002 22:45

Marina - I think (hope) I still own a stash of singing together songbooks that were being sold off in a jumble sale when I was still at primary school! I'm sure I have them around somewhere - I used to play the songs on my recorder, pleeeease don't say I threw them out when I was a teenager. I'm off to check the loft!

Marina · 11/05/2002 22:39

Lizzer, you complete and utter star! I will be all agog to hear how you got on. I'm just sad I never studied Antony & Cleo so I could have repaid the favour.
