FIrst day in cloth nappies - help please!

I ordered a selection to try and have had varying success so wondered if anyone can help please.

Totsbots - lovely, no leaks but bulky so not sure if I would want to use them all the time
Motherease Sandis - nice and soft but leaked
Fuzzi bunz - slim and easy to use but leaked
Swaddlebees - no leaks, lovely and slim but expensive
Wee notions - no leaks but really fiddly (so many buttons and poppers and adjustable elastic - also really bulky.

Do you think I am doing anything wrong to get leaks with the fuzzis and sandis? Each nappy was on for max 3 hours - is this too long?

Btw - was using a Rikki wrap with the tots/sandis/wee notions

Thinking of buying more swaddlebees but quite a bit more expensive than the others so want to check I'm doing everything right before investing!

TIA

Pocket nappies -- I mostly use Fuzzis because they are the easiest to pick up second-hand and I didn't want to pay new prices. And I do like fuzzis because they are so slim-fitting.

Nature Babies new style stuffables (with poppers) are actually a better match to DS's build (chunky thighs in relation to waist), so in principle I prefer them. They are more bulky though (and I know some people don't get on with them) and the poppered versions rarely seem to come up second-hand. I really don't like the NB versions with aplix, though (I'm not a big aplix fan in general, but IMO it's particularly bady implemented on the NB).

Wonderoos are very good (and work birth-to-potty so are a good budget option) but have slightly more poppers so can be tricky to put on when ds is wriggling.

There's a US line called Supa Dupas that I like -- they are side fastening with poppers. But DS grew out of the only one we have almost as soon as we got it and I haven't ordered any larger ones yet.

I really haven't tried enough to be sure -- there are so many out there. I've heard good things about Bear Behinds but they aren't fulfilling orders at the moment because they are selling the business.

I guess if you like popper fastenings then fuzzis are probably the best general recommendation to start with (although depending on your dc's build there may be something better out there), or Wonderoos if you don't want to have to buy loads of different sizes. If you like Aplix then Happy Heinys or Minkis (Slinki or otherwise) always get a good press.

bonym, I use Bambino Mio prefolds in my fuzzis and have rarely had a leak, and although they are bulkier than the fuzzi-bunz insert, its not by much. Also they can be used on their own with a good wrap and a liner.
Munz, wicking is when the fleece draws moisture out of the nappy and onto the vest!
I prewash all my nappies 3 times before use.

Thanks for the tip chipmonkey - I might give that a go. I stuffed a folded muslin in with the fuzzi liner yesterday (didn't have anything else vaguely suitable) and didn't get any leaks.

I seem to be gravitating towards the fuzzis at the moment as they are so simple to use. I do like the Sandy as well, but think it won't be so popular with dh who is taking a little persuading that cloth is the way to go! I think I am gradually winning him round though .

I've been stuffing the fuzzis with 2 microfibre inserts and they haven't leaked since does make them bulky though.
