Fucking inept mother

That's me, that is.

Today I have shouted A LOT to make them get ready in the morning.

DS2 (15 months) has had no fewer than five, yes FIVE "serious" tumbles, culminating in a bloody lip. He literally will NOT stop climbing and unless I'm following him around during every waking moment he will find something to sodding fall off.

The two older DCs refused to eat any of their supper...again. As they do any night that I don't make beans or scrambled eggs on toast.

Fuck sake.

This is just what I need after another day from hell! And wine too....

I have just put clothes out for DD to wear tomorrow and when she whined that she didn't like them I said to her "Look, I've been stuck in the house all day with you lot whining about everything, now can I please go and drink my wine??" I said please.

Then I shouted at other DD when I went outside and found THREE pairs of her shoes in the wet garden.

Final straw was when I had just got DD2 to sleep and was reading DS his story, which was an animal encyclopaedia. He turned the page, saw a picture of a snake and let out a blood-curdling scream, for some reason, waking up DD. I was so mad, I told him to go to sleep and left the room forgetting that I should have changed his duvet cover after he wet the bed last night. I might go in and turn it over later, if I remember.

Is that inept enough?

Actually all my friends seem genuinely calm. What's their secret?

Rather than shouting I tried whispering at my children. It seemed mad, but it worked. It nonplussed them and they had to strain to hear me.

Then I battered them with a cricket bat when their attention was diverted.

Joking aside, I found talking really quietly worked.

Oh thank god for this thread. I logged on to start a thread roaring about being at the END OF MY FUCKING ROPE after a day of poo smearing, rudeness, ingratitude, whimpers and misery. (And that's just me and dp, ho ho ) I was shouty. DP was shouty. DS said it was 'a scary day' and he's not wrong.

This thread has helped loads.

15mo ds climbs anything and everything, he appears to have a death wish.

He had cheese on toast for tea again tonight because I know he will eat it and I am sick of making food to have it chucked at me.
