Just wondered how many of us are happy spending the whole day in your house with the children & no other company? I realised the other day that I NEVER do.We are always out & about, going for walks or if we are in,having visitors.I am never on my own with them say from 8-6,without going out or someone coming around to play ect.

I checked with a couple of friends with children & they are exactly the same-I thought it was just me.So do you stay in all day on your own with your children?

Never!
A colleague has pyjama days where neither of her children get dressed
We always have to go out somewhere, even if it?s only nipping to the library, otherwise we would all be climbing the walls (literally in ds2?s case )

interesting thread, good thing we are not all the same eh?

dp and I are very different on this one - I could very happily stay at home all day - although admit it's harder now we have 2 kids - just dealing with one is tons easier! dp hates the thought of being in on her own with them all day, and will walk miles, organise stuff etc. So it's probably a good job I'm packed off to work and she does most of the childcare - if it was up to me they'd never see the outside world...!

Never! Ds would be bouncing off the walls (or I would be). At the very minimum a walk to the shops with a stop at the park on the way back.

Don't feel the need to have company every day though - quite like relaxing with just ds, or dh and ds.

I have been alone with dd2 all day today but we went to the supermarket. apart from that we've been in/in the garden.

Often! They are 2 and 8 months and if they don't have naps during the day they are insufferable so any trips out are very organised to allow for this (sleeping in car counts)

I think a lot depends on their age. I'm looking forward to when they are older so it's less of a military operation going anywhere or doing anything. I do go a bit stir crazy at times but generally I like my own company so 2/3 blethers with adults a week keeps me sane.

I hate staying in! I find it so much easier to be out and about with the kids than to be stuck in.

DS loves being at home though so we do stay in once a week (usually on the weekend so DH stays in with him while I take baby girl out to the park).

DD has 3 full (on?) days at nursery and is shattered Mon-Wed. Thursday is our chill day. I let her veg in front of Nickjnr/cbeebies for a couple of hours whilst I do chores. Then we play/paint/make for an hour, have lunch. If It is fine we might go out for a walk to park, but if raining we bake. Fridays we tend to be out and about most of the day. I think she (and I)needs a veg out day sometimes.

Every day of the school holidays - well practically.

I had some really trying days last winter in the mountains of Turkey when the snow meant I was sometimes stuck in the flat with a baby and a four year old for two days at a time.
Dh was also working 12 hour days.
Thank God for MN. Saved my sanity and my marriage i reckon!

When the snow was at its worst,I spent weeks where my only outing would be to the supermarket or a taxi ride to dh's office.

ParisMum · 21/09/2005 20:06

oh my god moondog, it's a miracle you survived! where in Turkey were you?

moondog · 21/09/2005 21:11

In the far east PM. City called Van a few hours from the Iranian border.
I can laugh now.Didn't then!

(Still there most of the time, but infinitely more pleasant in the summer!)
