Should be moving to Nice very soon. Just waiting for a date to be agreed. Anyone have any useful tips?

no, just
will your children be in school there?

ParisMum · 11/09/2005 17:31

dd is only 1yr so no school yet but any info you have on schooling would be welcome. dp will be working in Sofia Antipolis so it's more Antibes than Nice really. are you in France?

Yes, in the Vosges, when Im not in Munich (if that makes sense)

Do you mean general info about French schools, or about the schools there in particular?
Someone told me there is an international school in the area, but it seems a terrible waste to me to pay to get the children educated in English, and miss out on the super, free French education system.

Ive only been to Sophia for business trips. Is your dp a telecoms engineer by any chance?

I had vaguely heard of an international school in the area too but we've got plenty of time to think about that really.
dp is an IT consultant - but he's a very nice bloke apart from that
how old are your children nightynight?

Nightynight, you're not a very old Mumsnetter rejoining us are you? Years ago someone "sounding" very like you online moved out that way and is much missed. But whatever, at both of you and all the other Mners living in wonderful France, but especially the Vosges.
Good luck with the move ParisMum!

off house-hunting on Monday and I'm pooing my pants because I have to hire a car and drive on the wrong side of the road for the very first time ... all on my own. Not to mention the changing gears with the right hand thing (I'm left handed!!)
Well, it was nice knowing you. [absolutely terrified emoticon]

Good luck with the driving and the house hunting PM. Hope you find something gorgeous with a pool and orchards...

beetle73 · 24/09/2005 23:28

Actually, I probably mean groves.

ParisMum · 26/09/2005 16:38

thanks beetle73,
have just taken dd down to parents-in-law and they very bravely let me drive their 406 back to the train station....this included negociating roundabouts, motorway and everything. Am feeling quite proud of myself, despite fumbling about in the door several times trying to find the gear stick. hey ho, off tomorrow.

ParisMum · 04/10/2005 13:40

well I made it back in one piece...the driving was the easy bit
house-hunting is going to take longer than planned...unless we win the lottery. so sunny, and gorgeous surroundings though, can't wait to get down there for real.
Off to buy lottery ticket.....
