Since DS was a baby I have called him "Mogs". I think its because he reminded me of Mogwai in Gremlins when he was first born!!! (Bad mother I am), even now I shout "Mogs" in the street and he will respond to me.

DS

used to be known as Budgie

henshake · 25/08/2005 20:20

We both call DD Sweet Pea or Chicken. We used to abbreviate her name but tells us she is Emily. I used to call her Chickadee, Chickapee, Chickawee, Emily (but I've grown out of that). I also call her my fledgling (her baby name).

So far there is only myself that has any names for DS, mainly it is Little Man, occasionally he gets chicken aswell. However DS's baby name is little tiger cub.

When I was a baby my parents called me microbe & grumpling.

Sausage & Sausage Dog

Wow, some of these names are so cute!!

Swiperfox - we too just shorten DD's name she just gets called "Ells bells" - Ellie.

I think boys just seem to suit pet names more, even when they grow up they still have nicknames.

Mytwopenceworth · 26/08/2005 16:05

I call my neice Buffy, dh calls her Babong! My sister and mum call my ds1 Jerry (not his name or anything close!) and my ds2 Katkins. I call both my boys Bugger (time for tea Bugger, come and get your coat on Bugger) and the usual sweetpea, honeybun, monkey, poppet etc

When you think about it, it's a wonder any kid actually knows what their name is!!!

ScrewballMuppet · 26/08/2005 16:07

my cousin is called snodge by his dad (hes now 16 and highly embarrassed by it)

mandymac · 26/08/2005 16:13

DD is variously know as:

Frogmella Monkey Face
Monkey Face
Crazy Daisy
Lazy Daisy
Dew Drop (Initials are DEW)
Bella Mole
Princess Daisy
Daisy the Pooh (sung to tune of winnie the pooh by dh)

sassy · 26/08/2005 16:19

We call dd1 Boo - everyone, from family to her nursery do too. Dd2 has a nickname which rhymes with her real name (itself a shortened form of her 'formal' name if you get my drift).

My Dad was big on nicknames. I was called Peever after a place we visited when I was tiny (but he seems to have dropped this) and my 2 sisters are still called William and Scrotty Hound by him!

Mytwopenceworth · 26/08/2005 16:22

Oh yeah and when I was a kid, my parents referred to me as PestRat and my sister was Stinky and also Crabs.

Nice.

edodgy · 26/08/2005 16:32

I vowed i'd never call my children any embarrassing pet names like my parents called me but since i had my dd they just flow from my lips automatically its really strange i call my dd a variety of things:
Tilly mint
Darling
treacle toffee
sweetheart

babsy wabsy
evie weavy

Just read these back and now im ebarrassed.
