Do you have a favourite child?

My mum has told me that all parents have a favourite child, and that usually one parent will favour one, while the other parent favours the other (if there are two children). My Grandparents, aunts, etc all have a favourite grandchild, neice or nephew etc; but my mum says all parents have a favourite child too.

We have a ds1, dd and a ds2 and I'm pretty sure our dd is dh's 'favourite'. He denies this of course... but I don't think I do have a favourite child. The three of them are just so different. Ds1 is quite anxious and needs a lot of attention/reassurance, dd is very affectionate to everyone and is adorable, and ds2 is the baby, he is so cheeky and funny.

Does anyone else have a favourite child?

I don't have a favourite but I have a DD and a DS and I love them differently I suppose. DD is 6.5 so our relationship is growing, she is getting her own personality and has a great sense of humour. DS is nearly 4 and so cute and funny.

No favourites in my house! Even when one is being a right pain in the bum I still love them just as much as the other two.

Im so glad i read this ive been feeling so awful lately cos, for the moment at least, i would have to say ds is my favourite. Hes just turned 2 so cute and cuddly and coming out with new things and i find his naughtiness much easier to cope with as he doesnt really mean it so much whereas dd is 4.9 moody stroppy opinionated thinks she knows everything lies does everything she knows she shouldnt and is driving me mad!! But then i know she was even easier to manage than him at his age and she can also be incredibly loving and funny and sweet. I think its just a bad stage for her and a good one for him but ive been beating myself up for feeling like this and worrying am i showing it. Im so glad other people feel the same and im not such a horrid person after all. Or if i am im not the only one!!

cant wait til the others are earning and fighting over how much material things they can bestow on me.

I don't know if having a 'favourite' is about loving one child more than another. I absolutely love both of my children hugely, but there is one that I find much less work than the other, less friction, and simply more enjoyable and relaxing to be around because she is a less demanding personality. But I don't love her more, or the other one less.
