Is it okay to clean your potty out in the sink in public toilets?

Sorry ladies but I think this is disgusting.

Wait for a toilet, empty it down there, wipe with toilet roll and wet-wipe if you have one.

NO PEE IN SINKS, GIRLS, IT'S NOT NICE.

Discuss.

MT: somehow I don't have trouble believing that....

RnB: you were in the sink at the time, weren't you?

My mother used a hotel sink as a midnight potty once (well, probably loads of times in the middle of the night, knowing her) when I dared to book her into a room that wasn't en-suite.

MT I just spat all over the monitor I LOL so much! Doubtless spreading droplets as I did

lockets - lol, yeah I have flying water in my house! I wish anyway, could make some serious money...

FWIW, droplets of liquid do travel huge distances. I am constantly having to wash the wall next to the toilet because dh has sprayed it. I'm sure he doesn't do it on purpose (he'd better not anyway!!) and it's disgusting. I wipe it with bleach everyday, bleurgh.

have scared my dd cause the potty seat i bought is too small for our abnormal toilet and it half slipped in..and so did she, on first try. now wont sit on loo, even if i hold her...still tryin to find bigger portable toilet seat -even posted on here about it

misdee · 20/08/2005 17:17

i clean dd potty but wiping it down with one of those throwaway wipes then spraying it with dettol apple scented anti-bac spray. very handy things to have. in public, (not that i take her potty with me anywhere, she can use a loo you know!) i would use a kandoo wipe, and wipe it down with that. all contents down the loo.

Those of you concerned about the droplets. Did your children not have accidents whilst they were training? Did those accidents not cause droplets to land on the ceiling? Have you bleached your ceiling since?

And what about that wee on the carseat when you were miles away from home and unable to wash it properly, just had to let it dry in the sun?

Don't get me wrong, i'm very hygenic and to overcome my fear of droplets i have trained dd just to use a normal toilet seat, never took a potty out in public, rather she wees in a bush if we are not near toilet then i don't have to worry about how best to clean up and know the bush got a good watering .

Kitchen sink - yes sounds a bit gross, but if i weren't lucky enough to have a downstairs loo not sure what i'd have done in the beginning when dd was weeing every five seconds!

hercules · 20/08/2005 17:40

I cleaned ds's potty in our kitchen sink. Just wouldnt do it in public one. I never bothered taking potty anywhere though.

My dm calls kids wee "angel water".

weesaidie · 20/08/2005 17:43

public toilets are disgusting anyway!

But no, I wouldn't clean a potty out in the sink... I don't want to make them even worse.

LIZS · 20/08/2005 18:30

Nooo ! Bleugh . Sorry but the nearest I've come to doing that is to empty contents down loo and squirt with Dettox or a wipe at home. Somehow we avoided the potty in public lark but I'm sure someone in a queue would allow you into a cubicle to do that if needs be.

Although have to say this isn't quite as bad as the Mnetter whose friend let her child poo on the potty at a restaurant table.

Don't often post but this has made me laugh and I feel the need to confess at home I also empty the potty in the kitchen sink without a second thought. Pour it in slowly so (by my logic) less likely to splash and then rinse all around with dettol. Have not looked at the celing lately though . We've only just started potty training and no way am I going to traipse all the way upstairs every time and leave baby and toddler to get up to mischief. Other alternative is to leave it to accumulate - my DD points at previous deposit and says "I wee on top of that one" . Haven't had to deal with potty in public yet...

3kidsisquiteenuff · 16/04/2008 12:40

oh the joys of a down stairs loo!!!!!!!!!!!11

cornflakegirl · 16/04/2008 13:26

Urine is sterile. Why is everyone so hung up about it?

furrycat · 16/04/2008 14:29

morningpaper, haven't read whole thread so apologies if you've answered this but please tell me more about fold-up seat for public loos! I cart a huge ungainly seat everywhre as DS1 refuses to wee on normal toilets..where do you get this fold-up one?

JossStick · 16/04/2008 14:35

Has anyone ever thought that a couple of mini urinals wouldn't go amiss in women's loos. Save taking up a cubicle when i nip in with DSs.
