Could she be allergic to something??

flamesparrow · 19/08/2005 13:42

DD was a bit of a nightmare for a while.

In disposables we found that smothering her bum in drapolene seemed to help lots.

In cloth, soaking silk liners in camomile tea and honey, and then putting them in damp (squeeze it out and put it in) helped soo much. The nappy lady sells silk liners... they are pricey, but I bought 4 and have never needed any more as it always heals by the time I get to using the 4th one.

Wiping with camomile, honey and baby oil worked well too, rather than babywipes or just water.

Goodl uck

Poor thing! afraid i don't know any magical cures. But when you clean it have you tried using cotton wool and babylotion to soothe it for her, rather than water or wipes?
As all the strong creams havn't be helping i would be inclined to keep plastering it in a more moisturising cream like caster oil or vaseline and as you say, as much fresh air as possible.

Oh, YG, you poor thing, and your dd - I remember you posting about this a while ago - it must be really distessing to not be able to get rid of it.

What does the gp say about it recurring?

Could she have become allergic to something that you've always used and has been ok before(eg washing powder etc)?

Roobie · 19/08/2005 13:43

As you seem to have tried all the heavy duty conventional stuff have you tried Aloe Vera? As far as I am concerned it really is the answer to all ills! You need to get it as pure as you can for it to be the most effective.
There must be loads of other alternative stuff out there too - I am sure you will have loads of suggestions.

QueenOfQuotes · 19/08/2005 13:43

How old is she??

trace2 · 19/08/2005 13:43

my dd was like this, she was allergic to milk

Chuffed · 19/08/2005 13:47

oh YG - so sorry to hear this is still going on. no advice have you tried the A&E - don't place a lot of faith in gp's I'm afraid.

I think you should go - it's worth a try.

Roobie · 19/08/2005 13:51

I get my Aloe Vera from here - it's not the cheapest but could be worth a try

Depends but I've found sometimes they think outside the box a bit more than GP's.

yorkiegirl, hope the honey works...you poor things....

starlover · 21/08/2005 22:41

yorkiegirl, an allergy to citrus fruit can cause bad nappy rash
beaten egg white is a good barrier too!
