having a conversation with dh the other day and he recons we probably spend too much.

I would say we have 2 a week, Chinese £8 and Indian £12, so £20 per week.

We don't smoke or drink heavily, so we do not have any other vices really.

Just wandered other peoples situations.

we always have chinese on a friday wich cost around £24,the children eat as well and theres always enough for saturday,on sunday night we get indian for about the same price, its against my relegion to cook at weekends so i never

Bobsmum · 17/07/2003 18:21

Friday is take-away night, but it's started to work out really expensive. We now only buy pizza if it's buy one get one free (collection only - boo); any other meals we buy from the Asda takeaway bit - £6 for a meal for two - just as tasty as our local chinese/indian.

MABS · 17/07/2003 18:27

Worse in thIS household i'm afraid ...and I know we spend too much on them! At least 2 a week, usually about £15 each , unless we succumb to crispy duck when it's an extra tenner.

spacemonkey · 17/07/2003 18:30

glad i'm not the only one to have a couple of takeaways a week! i thought i was really bad for doing that

hmb · 17/07/2003 18:32

Whymummy, can I join your church??

We have one about evey 7-10 days. It is normally a Asdas/Tescos under a tenner number. We sometimes get a Papa Johns Pizza again under 12 quid.

We don't go out that much, neither of us smoke and I only drink the odd glass of wine at home, so I don't feel too bad about it.

whymummy · 17/07/2003 18:34

oh and i sometimes phone dh and tell him to bring a bucket of KFC in the middle of the week because i don`t feel like cooking(truth is i burnt the dinner while on mumsnet)

batey · 17/07/2003 18:36

We get a Friday night curry once a month or so, about 20 quid for 2 of us but is gorgeous and dh has leftovers for Sat breakfast! Yes I know that's foul, I have to leave the room!!

whymummy · 17/07/2003 18:37

of course hmb,you`re welcome

codswallop · 17/07/2003 18:43

One a week if that _ i never find them as nice as I imagine

bea · 17/07/2003 18:53

hmmm! i love our local chinese... but it is now no longer local as we moved.. (though it's only about 15 mins away now, as opposed to the 5 mins!) but we've not been there for a bout a year... we have a take away about once every two months!... but now you've got me talking about it!!!.... i think a trek to the chinese is calling this weekend!!!! hmmmm!!!

fio2 · 17/07/2003 19:01

whymummy you've made me feel much better I love takeaways, especially indian (usually 2 times a week)

whymummy · 17/07/2003 19:07

yes fio, follow my religion,we mums don`t have days off

princesspeahead · 17/07/2003 19:07

don't have any edible takeaways near us now we are in the country - in london it was about once a week or a fortnight and extremely expensive but delicious Chinese!
Tended to go out for supper instead as had millions of excellent restaurants on our doorstep - esp a cheap and wonderful lebanese that I still miss enormously... sigh...

fio2 · 17/07/2003 19:09

what is lebanese like? It sounds lovely but have a shortage of those up here(like none!)

whymummy · 17/07/2003 19:15

oh yes pphead,we once had lebanese and it was yummy!

whymummy · 17/07/2003 19:19

i also love thai

princesspeahead · 17/07/2003 19:20

lebanese is great - lots of hummous and babaganoush (aubergine dip) and little pastries stuffed with spinach and pine nuts and small spiced meatballs and falafel with tahini....

delicious. and good healthy mediterranean stuff!

pie · 17/07/2003 19:21
