dodgy name for daughter

dh and I are starting to think about names for our next one and both, independently, suggested an unusual but pretty girl's name (don't want to say what it is as we're funny like that!!). BUT it's not in any name books so I looked it up on google and found 101 porn stars all called this!

Should this put us off? It's lovely but I don't want the poor girl getting strange looks all her life.

Yeah, I reckon I should reclaim it from the land of porn (unless dd decides to take her clothes off for a living, of course).

Oh, dear, I knew it meant lost but not the destroyed bit - what a shame, it is a nice name.

Anyway Dita is nice too, I'd never heard of it before (in any context !) and would not have associated it with porn stars - as Rhubarb says, it sounds Indian if anything.

Bundle. It wasn't because I'm posh (cos I aint). It sounds a bit like my surname but caught on because it also sounded a bit like 'knob' (this was at primary school when that sort of thing really impresses kids ). I lost it asap...

Hi there, I thought the same as Rhubarb, don't know if you are of Indian descent but it does sound like an Asian name. Don't know if that is a problem for you or not.

Yes it does, doesn't it? Not a problem at all. When I did the Google search though most of the Dita's seemed to be from Eastern Europe and the US (poss. of European descent). A couple were from the Far East. So I dunno. Saffron's a lovely name too.

I so thought it was Dolores, was smug all night to DH. Think Dita is lovely though and like someone said they surely would be too embarassed to state the porn link out loud. Go for it.

Dita - not what I expected, but it's a really nice name and doesn't sound at all porn-starish to me.

I like it too ... it is unusual without sounding 'poncy' which some unusual names do ...
