Corona is yes easy on the eye but now that I know he has slept with Lele Mora frankly euuuugh!!!!!!!

Do not get me started on covering children too much. DD had felpa on today as it is about 10 degrees when she leaves for asilo. My mum said she should be wearing her mac too...

Happy birthday to mini buch too!

Bucharest · 29/09/2010 09:44

Oh good lord! He slept with lele Mora? I thought it was her Shock

Sputnik · 29/09/2010 11:45

As usual I have no idea who any of these people are.
Spotted 2 children in wooly hats today.

Francagoestohollywood · 29/09/2010 11:54

Grin at "tutto sudato". You can tell ds and dd have been anglicized as they were only wearing a felpa this morning.

Minerva, yes, I think that's provincia for you, people are really brand focused there, more than in bigger cities, not sure why.

I don't find Corona attractive at all, he is too masculine for me.

Francagoestohollywood · 29/09/2010 11:55

Oh yes, Happy birthday to Miss Bucharest, 7 already! Smile

Rosa · 29/09/2010 12:17

I picked up the last 2 mins of Stricia last night and they were giving COrona a Tapiro for it but it seems he is not confirming this fact !!!!!!
We go to school in l/s t shirt/ leggings or lightweight tsers a felpa/sweatshirt and a light jacket but only as its windy on the fondamenta. Minirosa goes into nursery in a t shirt !!
DD1 has a cracker of a bruise coming and its still swollen but he fears seem to have gone and she is there til 4 today.
I have a lovely classic wool coat similar to Buch bought from M&S last year want to say round £30 and with her navy boots she looks very al moda ! Seems like spring again here !

Francagoestohollywood · 29/09/2010 12:23

Oh poverina! Glad to hear her fears have gone though.

In a bid to loose a bit of pancetta, I bought myself some pane azimo... Hmm... not the nicest pane ever, innit?

OP posts:
Rosa · 29/09/2010 12:28

Its like eating cardboard - only any good if you dunk it in spicy oil or mayonaise.

Francagoestohollywood · 29/09/2010 12:43

Yes, in fact I've just spread it with mayo and ate it with parma ham... I'll never get rid of my pancetta Grin

I have signed up for 'walking' look for it on you tube and have a laugh. Thing is my heel is giving me hell at the moment depsite heel inserts and sensible shoes so not sure if going to make it but I have to do something about shifting the flab ( also to help my heel !) Diet was going well but I sort of stopped in the UK. AM no back on and being strict but have about another 10kg to go !

Francagoestohollywood · 29/09/2010 13:18

It is impossible to diet in the UK imho... all those lovely M&S cakes shouting my name... Grin

Have you heard about those MBT shoes? Friends of mine swear on them. Mind you, they are expensive and far from being nice.

Rosa- we had that coat last winter! Was disappointed with the M and S ones this year, so opted for John Lewis.

Have just cleaned a pomegranate for dd so need to go and change my clothes. What a user-unfriendly fruit they are!

Rosa · 29/09/2010 16:20

I haven't eaten a pomegranate in years how yummy ! Minirosa refused all healthy merende and so she ate a ringo and managed to dribble it down her front ( she hates bibs with a fashion). We go to get dd and bloody hell she manages to totally sporco another jacket front but hey ho thats children. I loved that coat and so far have been happy with it mind you it had about 5 trips out last winter as it went mega cold very quick . I am hoping that dds benetton pumino still fits and I know her big long one will as it was a size bigger last winter ( watch this space when I am wrong) It can't get warm again minirosa doesn't have enough clothes........ BUt this pm I was steaming !

Francagoestohollywood · 30/09/2010 12:11

Deffo warmer here today, hurrah.

I've just read that Tony Curtis has died, mi dispiace.

I've been to the otorino and I have to do an esame audiometrico, as I don't hear well from my left ear.

Bluefin · 30/09/2010 13:45

Ciao!
Have been given link to this Little Italy chat.. been in Italy for about a month, and quite happy so far.
Has anyone any ideas for mid-week baby socialising? My son is 14 months old and missing his singing class/toddler group/swimming class etc that he enjoyed in the UK.
We are north of Rome.

Rosa · 30/09/2010 13:56

Franca I hope you behave better than minirosa when she had hers at 3 mths she pooed in huge quantities and on the floor where she was there were no baby changing facilities ( brand new hospital as well !)
Let us know how it goes I take it teh otorino said that there was no wax etc .
Hi Blufin- you need Sputnik or BananaGio to help you out for that area. I would have thought that the local pool will offer toddler swimming sessions but as for other activities they will be specific to the area. Maybe your consultorio would know.
I have done a Ikea bag of stuff to go to the charity market thing is do you think I can be cheeky and say if they don't sell it can I have some of it back as I daren't let my cleaner see it ( as she goes to the markets) she gave me a load of it !!!! She is away at the moment and will not be back for this market 2-9 Oct but she will be here for the following one !!! eeek what to do ?

BananaGio · 30/09/2010 14:00

Hi Bluefin welcome! Whereabouts are you? I am in Rome in the Balduina area. Are you here permanently?
Franca I saw that re Tony Curtis as well. Hopefully will mean loads of his films will be shown on TV.
Nice and warm here as well, long may it last- not ready for winter yet. I want a nice, long Roman autumn and a crisp, sunny winter - like it used to be before weather decided a few years ago to be damp and miserable for 5 months!

Francagoestohollywood · 30/09/2010 14:12

Hello Bluefin and welcome!

I'm in Milan (and my dc are older!) so I don't what's on offer in Rome. Mind you, I was at my local bookshop yesterday and I saw that there is a sort of "what to do with children guide in Rome", I'll let you know the exact title.
Do you speak Italian?
I'm not sure about Rome, but here in Milan the best way to socialize with other mothers is at the local "giardinetti" or with fellow parents at nursery.

Rosa, yes, I'd be cheeky and ask them to get the unsold stuff back.

Oh I'd love one of those warm autumn too. ANd you know what I would like? A proper Milanese November day, with lots of fog (mad I know Grin), but we haven't had fog for ages now!

OP posts:
Francagoestohollywood · 30/09/2010 14:28

Ah forgot, yes, I hope I can manage to behave better than minirosa Grin

Yes, she ruled out wax. She also checked my throat, which has been feeling weird for 2 months and ruled out nasties. She says I'm a bit allergic to something unknown. And suffer from sbalzi di temperatura!!!! How Italian is that?

OP posts:
BananaGio · 30/09/2010 14:28

lol at you wanting fog. I want one of those winters with bright blue skies, sun but cold and the smell of wood fires in the air when I go fuori Roma for a day. Nothing nicer.

Francagoestohollywood · 30/09/2010 14:29

Awwww lovely.

OP posts:
Rosa · 30/09/2010 18:51

Nooo not fog please it plays hell with the transfers!!!!

Bluefin · 30/09/2010 19:33

Hi BananaGio,
We're Bracciano, so a bit out of Rome. We're here probably for just one year - I can't speak Italian but will begin lessons next week, and the little I do know has already improved vastly through necessity!
The playpark seems to be the toddler hotspot. Pool offers baby classes but on Saturday - can't have everything, but it's mid-week days that I'm trying to fill! What's the best way to fish around for this sort of info - someone mentioned consultorio - cos'e?

Sputnik · 30/09/2010 19:42

Milano with no fog Shock.
Yes we definitely missed the crisp sunny part of winter last year. I remember having lunch on our porch in the sun on New Year's Day a few years ago. Gio we should really get together, you can come and sniff our woodsmoke some time.

Welcome Bluefin, I remember your thread about your DD before you left, I replied but I think you had probably left by then. Hope she has settled ok. Are you in the Sabina by any chance? Or in the northern part of Rome? I used to live in the Sabina but moved to the south of Rome a year ago, but we kept our house there and go back for weekends etc.

Can't really help with the baby activities, people don't seem to do that kind of thing here until they're a little older, though I might be wrong about that. You could try asking at your nearest swimming pool. If you're actually in Rome there are various expat groups that do mother and baby stuff.

Sputnik · 30/09/2010 19:56

X posted with you there Bluefin. Bracciano is lovely. You are pretty close to the Cassia there, which has loads of expats, maybe there would be something going on in that area.
