Minerva, I love the idea of a prefabricated eco house, I think I saw some German ones that are really beautiful. I wonder if I could build one in Milan's Giardini Pubblica? ?grin?

As for the furniture displays... you'll have to come to Milan for the Salone del Mobile!

Rosa, I have mal d'orecchie! Thankfully I'm booked to see an otorino on thursday, as I've been a bit deaf for ages now. Ouch, from this morning I've had constant pangs in my left ear!

Oh I want a prefab eco house! they sound amazing Minerva.
elastic band things are the obsession here as well although ds until now doesnt seem that interested luckily.

Rosa · 27/09/2010 16:00

oh bugger I have bought a granite work surface well I am always behind the times!!!

minervaitalica · 27/09/2010 16:47

ooohhhhh Rosa. I always wanted granite so Envy .

Anyway German pre-fabricated houses are gorgeous, but would look a bit out of place south of Bolzano really. They now make some whihc would look fab in milano Giardini pubblici Grin - you never know, MOratti may sell them to you if you ask!

Mmmm.. not sure what elastic bands we are talking about.

Rosa · 27/09/2010 19:55

www.potereaipiccoli.com/news/summer-trendz.html Might explain them a bit more. Am off to deliver 4th cake in 2 weeks and then its bed ...Atissshoooo

I could put one of those houses in the park possibly ???

Francagoestohollywood · 27/09/2010 20:29

I love marble tops, even if they are impractical. ANd in the UK we had solid wood, which was lovely.

It's actually Formigoni (the presidente della lombardia) who's very keen of selling anything and abhors green spaces Sad.

OP posts:
Sputnik · 27/09/2010 21:39

We have granite worktops in our old house, it is so practical and you can do anything with it and it looks the same as it did when we installed it 9 years ago, unlike the (admittedly nice looking) wooden ones we have in Rome.

In fact our dining table there is also a sheet of granite, it is indestructable.

Eco house sounds great, Rosa you could stick one on a boat, no?

BananaGio · 28/09/2010 07:12

Another fan of granite here.
Che coglione è Bossi with his SPQR "joke"!
Hope no tears this morn Franca and Rosa

minervaitalica · 28/09/2010 07:56

Miserable morning - have one of those horrid colds with a constantly dripping nose. I have to be at work as have important meeting so pls allow me to whinge!

Last night I had a Ciobar fondente to compensate for the cold (once DD in bed Grin ).

WIll check SPQR joke now... Is it Bossi himself or "er trota"?

minervaitalica · 28/09/2010 11:01

Just read the SPQR joke. Ehm, yes. he is starting to behave like his son more and more.

I have a question - today it was 10 degrees when we left the house in the am, so lightweight coats will not do for much longer. Where do you buy decent warm coats for DDs? I had a look around in shops but there are a lot of the "shiney" plastic puffa jackets for 200 EUR. AIBU in thinking that a)they aer horrid b)I do not want to spend 200 EUR for sth that is not going to fit next yr?

Francagoestohollywood · 28/09/2010 11:22

Dd shed no tears today, thouhg she held a bit on to my hand, lets hope she's turned a corner... Also she is always all happy and smiley when I pick her up, so it can't have been that bad Grin

I have no words to comment on Bossi. Actually I probably have too many words, but I don't want to bore you.

Minerva. Ok, warm jackets. Are you sure you don't want to come to Milan for a weekend for a good shop? Puffa jackets are evil.
You can find nice jackets (sporty though) in Decathlon, I'm a great fan of Decathlon.
Have you had a look in Zara (though I find that zara kids is not as nice as it used to be)
Also, if you buy a size bigger than your dd is, she'll wear the jacket for at least 2 years.
If you want something prettier and less sporty I'd go and have a look at Du Pareil Au Meme or Petit Bateau.
I'm a great fan of winter jackets from www.canadian.it/catalogo.htm, they are expensive but ds will wear his for the 3rd year, and it's perfect both for citta' and for skiing in the mountains.

Rosa · 28/09/2010 12:35

well who is more Blush corona or Moric ? Well i never well my grandma used to say it all comes out in the wash!
I am a fan of Decathlon for mid season jackets at a sensible cost. They had a lovely dark purple in the smaller childrens size. Also Oviesse had some of the fake husky style things . Minirosa has he inherited MOncler ( sorry !!!!) Have you looked at Next online. I have bought minirosa this one Its looks as if its fleece so one up from husky and one down from a pumino kind of coat that you need here.
It only costs Eu5 for delivery and they give you 28 days to return as well. I have just ordered a load of asilo stuff as I can't see myself getting to H&M , Zara in the near future.

Sputnik · 28/09/2010 13:23

Glad you DD is happier Franca.
Winter coats: we get everyday coats in Decathlon too. Otherwise in the Boden sale, or if you don't want to wait you can always find codes on MN. I actually got DD a coat on ebay this year, hope it's ok.
Benetton sometimes have nice ones.

Sputnik · 28/09/2010 13:25

That's a cute coat Rosa. I alwys forget about Next.

Francagoestohollywood · 28/09/2010 13:28

That is a one cute jacket Rosa!

Yes, Decathlon rocks. I bought the dc some a pair of walking boots which are perfect for wet autumn days.

OP posts:
Francagoestohollywood · 28/09/2010 13:29

what's "some" doing there?

I have to say that the other day I was totally unimpressed by H&M, I used to find really pretty stuff for the children and now it's all gone very tamarro, especially for girls. Why, oh why?

OP posts:
Sputnik · 28/09/2010 15:01

Yes wall to wall Hello Kitty etc. in there. Zara also gone downhill I agree.

Rosa · 28/09/2010 18:59

I only discovered Zara last year and I did get some good things for both the dds I went in July and it was a bit naf but it was end of sale stuff. H&M again I haven't been since July but it was very Hello Kitty but some of the toddler stuff ( normal) has really worn well and washed a treat. Minirosa is over the 18mths and I do still dress her like a child not a mini Hannah Montana so not sure if I will find much for her there.
DD ran into a friend and then fell over a bench. Fat lip bloody nose and one scared dd. ( last week she fell over a chair at school and grazed under her nose and her forehead and scabs just going ) She diddn't want to eat tonight so she had mashed banana and cheese on soft bread! She and asked if I could come and get her before pranzo domani so she wouldn't vomitare sangue. The teacher that rescued her told her to spit out all the blood in her mouth so it wouldn't give her mal di pancia ! Anway have covered her with arnica and kisses ( and a bit of chocolate )her breathing is a bit funny as I am guessing it is still a bit bloody but I daren't ask her to blow !!!!

Sputnik · 28/09/2010 20:08

Poor DD! Hope she's feeling better soon.

Francagoestohollywood · 28/09/2010 20:45

Oh no, poor dd! Arnica is good though, I'm sure she'll feel better tomorrow.

Yes, I enjoy to dress both dc like 2 children too... step away Hannah Montana!!!

OP posts:
minervaitalica · 29/09/2010 07:54

Rosa, Poor dd! I hope she feels better today.

Thank you for your responses! Will try Decathlon and Next and see what I get.

It is very annoying though that I live close to a small city (100,000 people, smaller than Oxford say), and there is 1 Hermes shop and 1 Louis vuitton shop, plus lots of Dior/Burberry/Gucci shops for kids, yet I am struggling to find a good quality mid-priced child coat. I am not sure what it says about the people living here Sad
And I hate Hello Kitty and anything Disney with a passion (more than Moncler).

By the way - can anyone imagine sleeping with Lele Mora? Euuuuuugh . It's the first time I feel pity for Corona Grin

BananaGio · 29/09/2010 09:04

Poor DD Rosa, how is she this morning. Love that coat, I always forget re Next as well. Think am going to book myself a day for Jan sales online for Next and M&S. Tried on DS's coat from last year and still fits -yay! Most of his jumpers do as well so just need some trousers, jeans and shoes and he is set! Slightly shabby maybe but set Smile
Love Decathlon as well- ds lived in their ?10 trainers last year.

Bucharest · 29/09/2010 09:13

Who has slept with Lele Mora? Thingummywoman? Belen? lol. (I know Corona is vile and repulsive and a thoroughly unpleasant young man, but I find him very easy on the eye Blush)

Am listening to the lovely Ed Miliband as I mumsnet this morning....(those of you on my FB know about my girlcrush Grin)

I got dd's winter coat (veeeeery Malory Towers, navy blue wool with blue velvet collar, Italians v. impressed) from John Lewis (£37) Her everyday jackety thing was from an outlet here.

Boden 25% off childrens till midnight tonight- so have stocked up on trousers/skirts for the winter. Saw a child going into dd's school this morning in a wool winter coat (it's only about 28 degrees, what's betting she's "tutto sudato" later and has to have a week off?

Dd is 7 on Saturday so we have booked the "Mr Hot" pizzeria (much better than it sounds, even though it is decked out in easyjet orange) very good pizza (bizarrely for a "fast food" place)

Hope Minirosa is feeling better today and that all other smalls are OK at school and elsewhere!

BananaGio · 29/09/2010 09:29

Happy birthday for Sat mini Buch. Also v pleased re Ed getting leadership. Unreal re child in wool coat Shock. I conceded to DPs hysteria and agreed to long sleeves and trousers and he is still tutto sudato every lunch when pick him up.
