I'm having some busy weeks, organizing dd's birthday, dh's birthday, going to the commercialista for my taxes, volunteering at ds's school (library) etc etc etc... (and the parrucchiere )

How's the flatgoing rosa?

OP posts:
Camomilla · 20/05/2010 19:04

Very Busy rl... in fact I'm posting from the train again... sput, apologies if you have said before, but how is it going with ds? London's soooo beautiful in the sun... finally some decent weather, though lots of clouds too... but at least warm... thank god, as finally the coalition programme was published today... want to move to Australia...

Francagoestohollywood · 20/05/2010 19:16

Oh really? What does it say? Should I read the newspaper...

Rosa · 20/05/2010 19:24

Flat we are waiting for the preventivi from the imprese and also the carte from the notaio ready Monday then I run them to the hunky ingeniere and he applies for the DIA to start work. In the mean time the commercialista is bashing discussing with INPS to get rid of the ipoteca that they have shoved on .......
I haven't had sky news on today should I Camo ?
Next week I have 4 feste di Compleanno ( well from the 24th - 1/6. I festa at ginnastica plus the saggio di inglese ( lasts all of 5 minutes . I am making 2 cakes for 2 of the feste ... I am placing bets on which dd gets ill first .
DH goes away for 3 days domani so I will be on here grey haired and haggard ( more than usual)

Francagoestohollywood · 20/05/2010 19:33

Rosa, I'll fix you g&ts if needed...

We are also entering weeks of feste at scuola materna and scuola elementare, outings with the teachers, pizzate with the football team, etc etc etc... aiuto!

And I have invited friends of ds for dinner for his birthday on monday... and it's difficult to find nice food on mondays!

OP posts:
Rosa · 20/05/2010 20:07

Make your own hamburgers then they can stuff them with what they like ( A la Macdonalds but healthy !) I hunted out some lovely piadine for the bread rather than the pepery spongy palm oil buns ( did them for nipote). Mind you I chickened out on own fries and did oven ones !
Right enough computer for me tonight . I also have to do Dh fatture by Monday arggghhhh

Rosa · 20/05/2010 20:08

Camo re DS we finally got an evaluation done last week with the SALT, he is about a year behind with his language, about what we thought and pretty serious. She does say the prognosis is fairly good with the right intervention though. We saw a neurologist a few weeks ago who seemed 95% convinced DS was fine, just a personality question really. We will be seeing him again now the speech evaluation has been done.
We have another meeting tomorrow and with any luck start therapy on monday. Not sure how that will work out as she is seeing us as friends, we might need to find someone else too.

Sputnik · 20/05/2010 21:48

OOh ooh, forgot to tell you I was interviewed by RAI3 the other day. Me and DS were minding our own biz and a guy with a camera came up. His question was "alcuni studi dicono che lavarsi troppo fa male. Lei cosa pensa?" I cracked up and asked him why he was asking proprio a me? I mean I know the Brits never wash etc.
So if you happen to spot a laughing Brit on RAI3, that's me. Seriously doubt it was/will be broadcast though.

Francagoestohollywood · 20/05/2010 22:06

Lol lol lol Sput!!! Did he also ask you what's your take on spifferi and colpi d'aria?

So happy to hear things are moving along with ds and that the prognosis is good. Go Master Sputnik!!!

Ah, Rosa, I forgot to tell you that dh has only realized that I cut my hair this evening . Ds followed suit and told me he wants his old mother back

Night night

Camomilla · 20/05/2010 22:52

Good to hear things are moving along sputnik, db was a veeeery late and slow speaker - making up for the lost time now though. Fingers x. And lol at the interview!

Franca, you can read the whole doc on the BBC I think, if u want to get depressed like me...
Rosa, now you reminded me I have to do fairy cakes for tomorrow...aaaaargh

Buona notte

Francagoestohollywood · 21/05/2010 11:52

Camo, I read the doc in the guardian, I really don't know what to make of it.
Lol at children having to stand up to greet the teacher. What's the swedish school model?

OP posts:
Francagoestohollywood · 21/05/2010 11:53

Has any of you got a fool proof recipe for cupcakes?

OP posts:
Rosa · 21/05/2010 12:08

DO you want to be Stepford or cheat ?
Cheat - But the BUitoni ready made cake mix in the cold frigo dept pour into cases and hey presto......

Otherwise I use delias all in one sponge
delia cake then divide into small paper cases. Great when doing it with dd as she can do almost everything. This is a basic one and works fine with me. WHen the sponges bounce back to finger touch they are done...
YOu can have fun with the toppings - butter cream philly and orange juice and icing sugar.. Lots and lots of different ones.....

Rosa · 21/05/2010 12:10

Sorry - forgot to reply to others. Rai3 isn't that local ?- I sometimes have it on in the evening but generally it is Sky news now ( boring!).
Sput thats good news re ds and hope he keeps making progress.
LOL at standing up for teachers we had to do it when they came in the room at school. ALl apart from 6th form where we just had to be polite and greet them !!!

Francagoestohollywood · 21/05/2010 12:10

Thank you my dear!

We used to have to stand up when some teachers entered the classroom when I was at liceo.

(we used to stand up and move the desks/chairs just to irritate the teacher of chemistry and biology who hated noise )

OP posts:
Rosa · 21/05/2010 12:25

We did similar things - I recall one latin teacher hated used tissues. So we took turns blowing noses and then putting them in the bin or leaving them on our desks - she had a phobia of them and she completley lost the plot. I will never forget her she had her hair in a tight bun on the top of her head ...just like the romans !

Sputnik · 21/05/2010 12:25

That Delia one sounds like the one I use, though adding baking powder seems unnecessary with the srf. Toppings I do the traditional english icing sugar (made with lemon juice) and sprinkes of various kinds, including sliced almonds for more grown-up look. Toppings are the fun part, we make them all different.

Rosa I was in the baking section of the supermarket and thought of you as I was trying to figure out wtf ammoniaca per dolci was for, I thought to myself "I bet Rosa knows". So do you?

Our meeting today got cancelled, but we'll be starting the therapy anyway on monday, can't wait to get properly going.

Francagoestohollywood · 21/05/2010 12:30

rosa!

No idea what ammoniaca per dolci is, sounds scary, non?

Let us know how it goes on Monday. Hurrah!

OP posts:
Rosa · 21/05/2010 13:36

Sput I hate to say it but I honestly haven't got a clue ...Sounds like something I would use for MIL ( joking !!!!)
Hope Monday starts in a positive way how long does it go on for now ( up to August kind of thing ....so he can get a good go at it IYKWIM)
I was having a look round at cupcakes and I found a black forrest one ...I remember making a big one them with tinned cherries I don't think Amarene in syrup is really the same thing but I am going to give it a go ..after the next appt to the dietician .
I have hit the block right now and can't shift a thing .......

Sputnik · 21/05/2010 22:13

Rosa you have disappointed me as the fount of all baking wisdom!
Re diet, this is going to sound counter-intuitive but it worked for me recently when I got stuck: have a cheat day and eat whatever you like (within reason obv), especially carbohydrates, aparently this is something to do with a hormone called leptin which helps weight loss but as soon as you start dieting the levels drop. Carbs work best for sending it up again, thereby resetting your metabolism, ready to lose weight again. You should do a cheat day every 7 to 10 days, followed by a day or 2 where you're pretty strict to take maximum advantage, so they say. And who am I to argue with it

Francagoestohollywood · 22/05/2010 13:04

I saw a box of ammoniaca per dolci tuday at teh supermarket (shopping for dd's birthday party) and it says that it doubles the lievitazione... I'm none the wiser though

Gorgeous day here today, summer at last!!!

OP posts:
Rosa · 22/05/2010 18:12

Am wondering if its baking powder or bicarb ( teh one for dolci)..... BUt the leivito di dolci is more like that ...hmmmmmmm
We have the vogalonga domani dd has prepared her plastic bottle with stones in ( to make noise)I have said no to the pan lids - people along the cannaregio canal bash them ( little old ladies hanging out of windows !!!) Its a great atmosphere ....one of the things I like about this place !
