HELP ! Ideas for 'keepsake' presents for 9 & 11 yr old boys

wickedstepmother · 21/06/2003 17:43

I'm getting married in 5 weeks time and my DH-to-be and I thought that it would be nice to get his sons a special keepsake gift. They are 9 and 11 and are into all the usual boys stuff - PS2, Pokemon cards etc but we wanted to get them something that can be kept to remind them of our wedding day. The trouble is finding something that will also mean something to them now.

DH-to-be and I also have a 10 month old daughter and plan to get her a special charm for her charm braclet which was a 'birth present' from us. But finding gifts for the boys is proving a little harder. Any ideas gratefully recieved

'Bracelet' and 'received' .... Unfortunately my brain doesn't work as fast as my fingers.

hello there!where have you been?we`ve missed you! how about a watch with the wedding date engraved in it?

3GirlsMum · 21/06/2003 17:52

What about a little tankard each with their name engraved.

wickedstepmother · 21/06/2003 17:53

Hi WM ! I'm afraid that my Darling StepDS's have been monopolising the pc for the last few days .

I'm having a sneaky surf on MN when I should be ordering wedding favours etc....

Watch is a nice idea... Thanks

Oops have just realised that I typed 'Darling Step Darling Sons' in my last post - Dizzy blonde, say no more

Watches sound like a great idea. The only other thing I could think of is a pen, maybe one of those space pens that write at any angle (not that that's particularly useful, just more likely to appeal to young boys ). Whether they get engraved or not depends on family circumstances I suppose- if they feel any overwhelming loyalty to their mother it might be an issue for them.
Congratulations!

wickedstepmother · 21/06/2003 18:18

Thankfully they have no 'issues' with their parentage and step-parentage, so a sigh of relief all round .

Space-pen is another great idea. I'll look into it.

Agree with the watches idea - or I've seen somewhere shops that sell little silver-plated clocks in the shape of a car/boat, that could be engraved - can't think right now where I've seen them tho'.

codswallop · 21/06/2003 19:04

money, a bank account. Bribery

tigermoth · 21/06/2003 19:35

what about a special fossil, rock, crystal etc? - that's something my 9 year old boy would appreciate anyway.

wickedstepmother · 21/06/2003 19:54

codswallop · 22/06/2003 18:41

you could get a baby one for dd with "Team wsm " on the back. Dont all wear them at once outside the privacy of your home tho!

wickedstepmother · 22/06/2003 18:50

Why not, I think we'd be the cream of the Worcester fash-pack !!!

Ah! Went for a job there once at elgar school. Use d to live in sutton coldfield. We have friends who live in Britannia square - not the poshest house I must add, but very nice all the same

codswallop · 22/06/2003 19:14

that came out wrong. I meant to say that the houses there are super fab and our friends have a nice house in that square. Bleurghh all coming out as gibberish.

codswallop · 22/06/2003 19:16

No still havent expressed myself correctly but I dont think you car... wake up WSm

wickedstepmother · 22/06/2003 19:17

We live on Warndon Villages (giving too much away now!). Brittania Sq is lovely, v. expensive though for the white stucco type properties. It's proximity to the city centre bumps the price up too.

Sorry coddie ! Am also on 3 other sites (shopping), chatting with DP AND popping into my miserable DD every 5 mins (who is stubbornly refusing to go to sleep!).
