What to do when you want a 'baby on board' sign but have blacked out rear windows?

Can anyone tell I'm internet shopping tonight? This is my second 'where can I buy' thread!

I was once told that the baby on board signs were actually useful as if (heaven forbid) you were ever in a car accident and the emergency services see it, they will immediately search for the baby first. IMO well worth having then.

The only problem is that our new car has a blacked out rear window so you can't see the old sign in it. Does anyone know if you can get an exterior sign or do you think the same sign in any other window would still get the emergency services attention (I know they usually look in the lower right hand corner of your rear window)?

lol Flum - I think that they should be for "watch out distracted driver ahead" . I do think they are a bit smug, and if I was desperately trying for a baby I think I would find them upsetting.

Never heard the they are for emergency services line before, and I know a few ambulance drivers.

There are so many of them I really don't think that anyone notices them at all, and as has been said before as they don't get remnoved when the baby is not on board then really what's the point?

helsi · 04/07/2005 22:24

does it really matter????

handlemecarefully · 04/07/2005 22:27

I personally don't like them, but hey cut her some slack why dontcha!

Dizzy - just put it in a side window as starlover suggests.

Thomcat · 04/07/2005 22:27

Oh FFS. No way. If you were trying for a baby and you saw a baby on board sign you'd be upset , I'm gonna have to just laugh at that, sorry, I don't mean to be offensive but that is just the maddest thing I've heard. Oh, I never, ever, in a million yeras could think that so many people would be upset, hurt, offened, pissed off my them, wow, wow, wow,WOW

dizzymama · 04/07/2005 22:28

Ermmm, yep Thomcat, it wasn't really supposed to cause any offence was just wondering about my situation onto the keyboard IYSWIM

dixxymama, sorry hon', I dodn't get what you mean tbh, sorry, I'm half watching BB so maybe I'm just being stupid.

helsi · 04/07/2005 22:31

In answer to your question dizzymama - put it in another window.

there end of..

ps better ask all mums to not go out in public with their children and better ask all newsagents to take baby magazines off the shelves and baby things out of supermarkets and....need I go on?

dizzymama · 04/07/2005 22:31

Although I know people aren't finding the thread offensive, more the signs and i suppose I can understand how they may upset someone trying for a baby.

Oh I see, I get it, sorry, you're seying you've offened people bu asking about them. Oh babes, ignore, I mean, OMG and what the !

Thomcat · 04/07/2005 22:36

dizzymama, don't go there hon, have a sign if you want one, do whatever you want, how the bejesus can they offend you if you're ttc, I mean really??!! No, no, no. In that case like Helsi says better ban all signs of kids everywhere, don't let em out till they are 18, just in case it's upsetting to someone! Jesus!

Twiglett · 04/07/2005 22:36

I love Baby on Board signs

I think they are eminently sensible and make other drivers consider (for a split second) how close / fast they are driving

especially when you purposefully slow down and put on your hazards

Baby on board signs are fab

I love them so much I said it twice

helsi · 04/07/2005 22:37

Thanks TC I wondered if anyone was listening to me!!

Flum · 04/07/2005 22:37

Thomcat -no I don't really think that is what childless couples would think. I was just trying to think of some earthly reason for them.

Helsi - 'end of' !!! have you been watching Big Brother per chance?

BTW when I say 'really irritate' I don't mean I lose sleep over it. I just mean a slight thought of ' ermm durr whats that for then' crosses over my mind when i see one and then I go back to robotic physics to while away my drive time.
