a rocking horse
a tricycle
a little trampoline

KBear · 01/07/2005 11:40

I got my ds who is also 3 a Thomas the Tank Engine Pop-up Tent (from Amazon). £35 I think. He loves it.

aloha · 01/07/2005 11:42

A dress? They are very popular, I understand.

Marina · 01/07/2005 11:44

Oh you beat me to it, aloha

aloha · 01/07/2005 11:45

HappyHuggy · 02/07/2005 18:10

My ds was 3 a couple of months ago, we got him a sandpit which he loves and a small trampline -the novelties worn off that though.

We also got him play sissors, paper, colourings stuff and paints which he loves.

fishfinger · 02/07/2005 18:10

look ont eh ome apge list of recommendations

fishfinger · 02/07/2005 18:11

yes duplo a ogood idea

tassis · 02/07/2005 18:13

you talkin to me ff?

I admit to knowing nothing, ds is 2 and a bit and really really wants one. Do you reckon they're out of them by 3? Good to know.

emily, listen to ff and not me - I was just guessing based on a lovely 3yo nephew and a 2yo son!

starlover · 02/07/2005 18:14

tassis.. i think a 3 yr old would still be fine in cosy coupe!

i know a 5 yr old who still plays with hers!

emmatmg · 02/07/2005 18:19

Trains, trains, trains and then a few more trains if you ask me.

Any make, model, variety will do the trick.

tassis · 02/07/2005 19:08

oooh starlover, thanks.

i'm seriously tempted...

Magscat · 02/07/2005 19:17

Emily - Over the last year my ds (nearly 4) has enjoyed:
Paddling pool,
Building kits (nuts, bolts & bits that fit together to make boats/planes etc..- Brio & Ikea do them
Lego fire station
Small music keyboard thing
Bike
Videos & DVDs & Books
Dressing Up clothes (wizard, wolf)

HappyHuggy & Starlover - do you mean those small trampolines with a kind of 'handle' ? I was thinking about getting one for ds but he's prettty clumsy, I can imagine him falling off loads - how safe are they?

starlover · 02/07/2005 19:24

i think they're pretty safe, especially if they're holding on.
they are quite low, so if you have it on grass they shouldn't really hurt themselves even if they do fall off

Magscat · 02/07/2005 19:26

That's the problem - we do have a grass patch out the back but it's really pocket hankerchief size & a bit of a slope.
Out the front of the house is concrete. I guess the back garden would be ok if we put the trampoline right in the middle of the lawn!
Don't have much storage space either so maybe we'll think of something else. (He says he wants a guitar!)

PeachyClair · 02/07/2005 19:45

We have three lads and there isn't much they don't already have, so for ds3's birthday, he is getting the JoJingles cd and doll from their website (you dont have to go to the classes).

otherwise I would say yes trains BUT ours became a health hazard, or bricks are a winner every time, as are craft kits. Blackboard easels are handy too.

skerriesmum · 02/07/2005 20:03

Ride-on tractor?

jambo1707 · 02/07/2005 20:50

I am selling a ride on train excellent condition

popsycal · 02/07/2005 20:56

ds1 is 3 next month
we are getting him playmobil andif people ask what to get him they can get him extra bita

KatieinSpain · 02/07/2005 21:17

DS1 has just turned three. At the moment, one of his favourite presents is the netting off a bucket and spade set .

Seriously, he is suddenly interested in jigsaws, duplo and loves the Oxford Reading Tree pack(available from the Bookpeople).

Hope you enjoy his presents as much as he does. And I can't agree more with "trains, trains, trains" - similarly, you can never have enough train track.
