HAPPY!

In fact, make that OVERJOYED!

I like eating alone, especially when I'm being waited on. I used to do it lots and loved it.

PiccadillyCircus · 29/06/2005 17:17

Fine. I'd take a good book with me.

Fio2 · 29/06/2005 17:18

I would just go^^

bossykate · 29/06/2005 17:18

well, neither really, but i suppose uncomfortable and above all a bit bored with no company! when i am staying in hotels alone for work i always get room service.

found bringing a book didn't really work for me - you need to sort of prop it up somehow while you eat...

katierocket · 29/06/2005 17:19

totally fine, I actually like eating in restaurants, cafes alone!

SoupDragon · 29/06/2005 17:20

A little nervous but oh the thought of the peace and quiet!

dyzzidi · 29/06/2005 17:20

Happy.

I always take a couple of mags or a book and have a lovely meal whilst reading enjoyable things.

bossykate · 29/06/2005 17:20

pruni, are you still going away on your own? dh owes me and i'm thinking of taking a short break by myself... so timely question rtkm!

soapbox · 29/06/2005 17:20

Done it loads of time - usually take a book and if get really bored flirt with the waiters

RTKangaMummy · 29/06/2005 17:21

I am staying in hotel alone atm

on monday night I went to restaurant alone with my book

I hated it

Felt so self conscious

Last night didn't want dinner

Brekkie is ok cos more people there and part of it is self service

But I think I must be completely mad

but bk - the book is useful to read whilst waiting for the food

snafu · 29/06/2005 17:21

I once ate alone (for work) in Brian Turner's restuarant and he came out of the kitchen to act as my waiter for the whole meal. Would have preffered Gordon Ramsey but you can't have everything.

snafu · 29/06/2005 17:21

God, sorry about spellings

bossykate · 29/06/2005 17:22

plus the unwanted offers of company from creepy businessmen travellers - bleurgh!

I used to do it loads when I worked full-time (before ds).

No problem. I usually took a book down to the restaurant, but rarely actually read it. If the restaurant is busy you just earwig what everyone else is saying, if it's deathly quiet you chat to the staff.

And enjoy your food, have something you'de never make for yourself, and luxuriate in the fact that afterwards you can sprawl on your bed in front of the telly, while someone else deals with the washing up.

Snafu was it at the millenium hotel in london. He served me there once it was a company function and he seemed to take a shine to me much to the annoyance of My Managing director!!

RTKangaMummy · 29/06/2005 17:24

BK yes the bloke at next table asked me about my meal

I just said it was lovely

I just felt like I wanted the ground to swallow me up

HAted it and don't think can go though it again

Yes Am prob mad then aren't I?

BK - I've perfected my hedgehog spike look just for the slime balls!

Trefusis - maybe thats why I'm so comfortable - I just drink the whole bottle in one night

BK - if you do go away on your own then I think Health Farms are ideal - not too many chat up merchants and loads of people on their own!

WideWebWitch · 29/06/2005 17:26

I'd be ecstatic at any time alone. Alone for dinner with wine would be even nicer! So no, it wouldn't bother me. When I travelled on business I did a combination of room service/restaurant on my own, it depended on the mood I was in.
