help, we have sold our house subject to contract to a couple who arent in a chain and want a quick sale, we have placed an offer on ahouse which has been accepted and the vendor is building a housenext door which weare fine with, however,we have been over there a bout 3 times to see the houseand it was deadly quiet, the cul de sac is quite small and it seems quite peaceful, we asked about the neighbours ajoining the house and he just said, oh i think they will move soon, they have just split up, he pointed out that the mother had left and taken 10 year old with her but left father and 18 year old there. last night we decided to drive past the house as we were over there anyway and to our horror, the 18 year old was stood out side with about 3 really rough looking lads(he looked like a nasty peice of work too)with all the doors open on his car and the loudest music id ever heard coming out of it, really bassy, the car is a clapped out g reg escort but thr sound system is prob worth more than the car, dh wants to pull out of the sale now, advice please???

i really feel for you sparkly, i had a bad neighbour situation about 14 years ago, they used to play loud thumping music night and day, it washell, but at least they werent intimidating.

where do you live have you looked on rightmove and primelocation we had a house fall through at the last minute and it was a nightmare but we ended up with an even better house in a great area which we also thought w couldn't afford but put in a cheeky offer and got it DON'TGIVE UP

sparklymieow · 22/05/2005 19:49

I know SC, just look at what happens when you ask the wrong people to be quiet...... hope something else comes up soon for you......

Spacecadet · 22/05/2005 19:51

ive been on rightmove, budget very tight...we were lokking to go to soham, isleham, wicken, fordham etc in cambs as the older 2 go to soham village college. ds2 was refussed a place at isleham primary school and would have to go to soham primary anyway.

sparklymieow · 22/05/2005 19:53

I am waiting for the police to phone me, so I can get a letter and then I can go to the council and get an emergancy move, but becaue the kids require adaptions the council ain't being much help...... because this house has been adapted to their needs

Spacecadet · 22/05/2005 20:16

how long have you been waiting for the police to phone? what a bloody ridiculous situtation

OP posts:
Spacecadet · 22/05/2005 20:17

the council can adapt another house.

OP posts:
sparklymieow · 22/05/2005 20:27

ummmmmm over a week, I spoke to someone on thursday and she said she would get someone to phone me but its hasn't happened yet..... the council are saying because £20,000 has been spent on this house (social services paid for it) they can't move us

Spacecadet · 22/05/2005 21:08

thats not on waiting all that time, as for the council well, its tough really, they have a nuisance tenant who they are not prepared to do anything about so they will have to move you

pull out now! your sanity, safety and health are NOT worth it!

Dingle · 22/05/2005 21:52

I think I'll have to change my name now!

Spacecadet · 23/05/2005 09:40

UPDATE, i rang the estate agents this morning and withdrew our interest explaning why, then rang our estate agent and explanined the situation, they will advise our buyers of this, mortgage company will not carry out the homebuyers survey, and phoned solicitirs who thankfully hadnt started the searches...phew feel very releived and think we had a lucky escape, now I have to start house hunting all over again, never mind!

OP posts:
assumedname · 23/05/2005 09:42

Well done and what a lucky escape!

Mum2girls · 23/05/2005 09:45

Definitely the right decision. Awful neighbours can make life hell for all around them.
