I'd be really interested to know what careers mumsnetters have. I know it's very nosy but I've seen all sorts on these pages. So...I was a teacher of English as a foreign language and the voice of a mouse for a video game and a singing butterfly and I have done voices for companies which want an answerphone message ("just a moment please hold the line" etc ) Anyone else?

OP posts:

Miggy - that was my first choice. I took all the higher grades at school in 5th year to get my 5 A's...... but...... I found my first love DAMN HIM! and didn't try very hard. I passed them all, but didn't get what I needed to get into Vet School.

My next choice was Zoology (Jimjams), but I couldn't afford to travel to Glasgow or Edin. to do it coz my Mum and Dad refused to fund it. (Are the violins out yet?? and notice how none of this is my fault ).

Oh what a deprived child I was.... shut up M2T and drink your wine.

Sad but true, I am a part time estate agent, but if anybody knows how to get a job on a sex chat line - i would be very interested!!!!!! It seems like very easy money! Slight change of subject - has anybody seen Planet of the Apes , dh has it on dvd and watching it -is it worth watching or should I stay on line??

Up until a week ago I was an IT project manager. Am now a SAHM

Gilli · 05/05/2003 21:15

Bit worried about adding to this in case I kill the thread.... I used to be a marketing and public relations director: but the hours and lifestyle clashed with having happy children :0 so I now do voluntary work as a magistrate.

miggy · 05/05/2003 21:15

stay on line, ok as a comedy but not a patch on the original!

mum2toby · 05/05/2003 21:16

You should definitely stay online even if it's good, but if I'm perfectly honest it's a fantastic film! You can always watch it another night though.

Gilli · 05/05/2003 21:16

Oh pleeeese - why didn't that come out as a little yellow grin then? Is my computer lacking something? Someone let me down gently, please!

mum2toby · 05/05/2003 21:17

Ooops Miggy.... slightly differing views on the film there.... not much help to you I'm afraid Naughtynoonoo!

mum2toby · 05/05/2003 21:18

Gilli - I think you used the number 0 rather than the letter o? Try it now.

SamboM · 05/05/2003 21:19

Cos you put a zero not an o

hoxtonchick · 05/05/2003 21:21

I'm a part time researcher for an independent health policy think tank. New job, very happy!

miggy · 05/05/2003 21:31

mum2t I'll agree to differ, and by the way, you didnt miss anything by not being a vet (bitter, twisted moi-never!)

WedgiesMum · 05/05/2003 21:39

Boring, boring, boring I'm an admin team leader in Higher Education. But I can tell you loads about building, quantity surveying and real estate courses if anyone is really desparate for a conversation....

mum2toby · 05/05/2003 21:49

Thanks Miggy!

Jimjams · 05/05/2003 21:57

oooh M2T you weren't at Aberdeen were you? I might know some people you know (I wasn't here- but know some who were)- depending on how old you are!

Jimjams · 05/05/2003 21:58

mum2toby · 05/05/2003 22:00

lorne · 05/05/2003 22:30

I am a secretary for a building contractor. Have worked for same company since leaving school, nearly 21 years ago!! Only do three days a weeks since having ds nearly 4 years ago. Great job, really enjoy it.

Janeway · 05/05/2003 22:38

bunny2 · 06/05/2003 07:17

I was a secondary school teacher and also did some lecturing at a Lndon University. Now a SAHM apart from the odd supply teaching job. Want to go back to work when ds starts preschool if I am not expecting No2 by then. Dont know what to do though, career change imminent.
