enid, agree, either brownies or make Nigella Domestic Goddess type fairy cakes with cherries on top.

HRHDuchessofPeahead · 25/04/2005 21:42

i disagree. make brownies by all means, but eat them yourself.

plant is def the way to go for rich friends. something smart - a good shrub that they can bung in the garden and remember their anniversary.

that's what I'd like anyway

I'd go for something to plant. If they're loaded, they must have a garden. You could get them a baby tree (seedling?) & tie a little ribbon around the trunk/stem.

helsy · 25/04/2005 22:03

a rose bush - you can get ones called marriage or anniversary or something, I'm sure.

ionesmum · 25/04/2005 22:08

Definitely agree with prettycandles. For a fiver you can buy fruit trees for a family in Ethiopia and your friends will get a very nice card telling them what has been bought on their behalf. www.greatgifts.org (if that doesn't work try putting uk on the end or go to the World Vision site. Oxfam also do the same thing.)

hunkermunker · 26/04/2005 09:38

I agree with PrettyCandles too. But I agreed with her before she agreed with me

ionesmum · 26/04/2005 19:25

Sorry, hunkermunker, so you did. That'll teach me to skim read.

darlingbud · 26/04/2005 19:57

a plant for the garden = a bush or a tree (fruit tress are nice) or a small shrub etc.

HappyDaddy · 27/04/2005 07:28

A request for a loan?

almostanangel · 27/04/2005 08:00

sorry if any one else has said this i havent read the whole thread,,,there is a web site where you can buy some chikens or a cow etc for people in povety in 3rd world countries.. youtr friends would get a certificate etc and you and your friends would be helping instead of sending something they say thats nice and stick it in a cupboard,,

almostanangel · 27/04/2005 08:03
